Based on modern culture and contemporary design, Le Journal D’Organza was founded in Rhodes, Greece and Bordeaux, France in 2021 by the Canadian wedding planner and designer Despina Kokkinou. Her philosophy is to seamlessly weave each couple’s vision into the timeless beauty of the French and Grecian landscapes. Le Journal D’Organza is available for bookings in Greece, France, Italy and Spain.
What would you like your couples to know about you?
The name Le Journal D’Organza is envisioned through the eyes of a young girl, weaving her dreams, mysteries, and hopes—fragments that will one day shape her, leading her to the threshold of her wedding day. I imagine it as a journal filled with delicate, time-worn pages—visions that of which overtime have transpired into a consistency as delicate as Organza. Organza is widely celebrated in weddings for its romantic elegance and poetic, ethereal quality. The brand stands on the foundation of the desire to offer a wedding planning and scenography journey that is seamless yet inviting, warm and human.
Having grown up in Montreal, Quebec, I was surrounded by a vibrant blend of cultures that shaped my multifaceted, curious, and open-minded approach to life. The fluid use of English, French, and Greek has always been a strength, allowing me to navigate the world with ease, adaptability, and connection—qualities that have proven invaluable in the ever-evolving, fast-paced and jungle-like world of weddings and design.
In my daily rhythm, I am very much an early bird, but when it comes to creativity, I become a night owl. During our first meetings, I am always drawn to the couple’s energy, aura, and even the subtleties of their physical features and presence—these first impressions become the foundation of their bespoke design. For me, scenography is an art form and a true passion that aims to tell their story.
Interestingly, not many people know this but my design process is always accompanied by House music late into the night. Tracks like Innerbloom by Rüfüs Du Sol for example, hold a place in the design process all while opening the space for creativity, guiding me into a meditative, soulful state where ideas take shape. Each wedding I craft is born from this place—a blend of creative intention that is soulful. Every design reflects a harmony between Baroque-inspired charm and eclectic romanticism, embracing both the grandeur of the old world and the daring spirit of the future.
Where are you based?
I am based between Rhodes and Bordeaux, a duality that allows me to embrace the beauty and breadth of both cultures, whilst working in and all around both countries. Having grown up moving seamlessly between different ways of life, I have become very attuned to navigating contrasts with ease. This fluidity has shaped not only who I am today but also lies at the very heart of what the brand embodies—a harmonious dialogue between worlds, architecture, traditions, and aesthetics.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes absolutely. Recently Italy and Spain have just entered our roster.
How would you describe your style?
This question made me smile, although as simple as it is, there are so many components to one’s style. Someone’s style is a testament to their experiences, inspirations from mothers, fathers, people you love, places you visit, travel and people you meet throughout your life.
As a brand we are truly proud of our journey thus far and appreciate this touch shines throughout in our work. If I can express it promptly, my style is romantic, yet bold - old world yet futuristic and innovative. A style that is also very deep, intuitive and open-minded.
.
What is your most memorable career moment?
There are a few big ones - but I do like the subtle ones. For example, getting to know the couple’s parents is always a pleasure for me on the day. I enjoy being a witness to their raw emotion and how proud they are of their children reaching this milestone. Their thankful approach and conversations with me during the celebration, is always so heartfelt and I am here for it.
What inspires you?
As much as this is a cliché - anyone with a curious soul tends to look for excuses to find inspiration even in the most unconventional settings. I am truly guilty of this as well. What tends to win my heart over are contemporary ways of expression. Things that are intentional but not obvious.
I love to depict and analyse choices of past and present artists. I believe all art forms are interlocked- music, poetry, architecture, dance - all threads are connected and I love to draw inspiration from all. The Baroque period however serves as a key influence in my creative process, and its sense of drama and intricacy is quite evident.
How would you describe your working style?
My working style is to create an honest, warm safe space, where couples can honestly express themselves, build a bond where respect, loyalty and humor are at the core of the foundation. However the fire and dynamic on my end to carry the process, is also a personal journey behind closed doors. I am someone who is very loyal, who works extremely hard to execute the results we are wanting to achieve.
I am also a believer that beautiful celebrations can be done at absolutely any budget. The true light of the day is the celebration of the union of two humans, choosing each other - as long as this component is present - every celebration is beautiful and I am always so appreciative to be a part of it.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
Yes, we have a wide selection of creative and flexible bundles that seem to resonate really well with the modern day couple.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
The Design Proposal - definitely. This is a process that is a part of our service, where once the venue is chosen I create a highly detailed visual of what I feel would align with the setting, environment, color schemes and the couple’s aura. It’s also a really exciting aspect for the couple as well.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
Puglia, Italy has been at the top of the wedding bucket list for a while and I am so excited to be creating work for a beautiful couple there in 2027. Truthfully, I am always a very happy girl when I am travelling in France as well. A desert setting is also intriguing to me - somewhere like Morocco would be wild.
Who is your dream client?
I absolutely love to work with open-minded and free-spirited couples that truly understand the depth behind their wedding day. A dream client is one who gives a “carte blanche” which is a French expression for “free pass” in the design spectrum. Couples who love unconventional settings: libraries, museums, public streets with an old age building in the background, cliff sides, fields… this really hits home for me.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
To be brave to make choices that are true to them as a couple. Whether religious, artistic or scenic choices, choose what resonates with you as a couple. I also love when both members of my couples are equally as invested in the process. Anyone who travels for a wedding, expects to feel something and that is the ultimate goal Le Journal D’Organza wants to achieve. I am truly an advocate that if a couple chooses what feels right for them, leave the noise behind, then naturally all their loved ones joining them on the day, will feel that authentic joy come through and will simply want to be a part of it!
