Tell us a little about yourselves!
We met in October of 2019 in NYC, and we fell fast. Covid started a few months into dating, so we spent time in Miami (where Scarlet is from) and a few years in LA, where we got engaged at the Chateau Marmont before settling back in New York. We both work in marketing – Nick is the marketing director for a diamond jewelry company, and I am a senior director at an influencer marketing agency. We currently live in Battery Park with our two yorkie mixes, Sandy and Ralph.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Despite spending time in Miami and LA, New York has been the backdrop of our love story, so we knew we wanted to get married here. We bounced a few locations around, but ultimately we always came back to New York.
We wanted our ceremony to be simple and intimate, so we opted for a courthouse ceremony. We knew we still wanted to celebrate with friends and family, but it took us a while to find a venue that felt right. One morning we were having breakfast at Square Diner in Tribeca, and we thought “why not, this would be fun!”. We are both suckers for a classic diner, and we loved that it would be a place we could continue coming back to.
How many guests did you have?
We had only immediate family join us at the courthouse, and about 60 guests at our party – family from both sides, and friends new and old.
What was your budget?
All in we ended up spending less than $15K.
Tell us about your outfits.
Scarlet: I honestly avoided shopping for a long time because I found it really intimidating. So, naturally I started with shoes. I tried on a few different heels from Manolo, and ultimately ended picking a blue pair (many know them as the Carrie Bradshaw heels) – they just felt like ‘me’! I bought what I thought would be my wedding dresses in February, but once I received them and tried them on in early May, I decided to go a different direction. For the courthouse I wore a Reformation skirt suit. As soon as I tried it on, it just felt right. For the party, I found a dress online from Blumarine, a brand I’ve loved forever. I made some small tweaks to the dress by adding a hook to pin up the train since I knew our party was in a pretty tight space. The juxtaposition of the two looks felt like they encompassed my style - it felt like the perfect mix of classic, chic, and fun!
Nick: For the courthouse, Nick went classic with a black Canali suit and tie, and Jacques Solovière loafers. Since I was going to be changing for the party, he decided to do the same. He wore a pair of Todd Snyder linen trousers, with a Ralph Lauren martini Polo Bear button up. I happen to own the matching sweater.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
The most important thing when planning our wedding was to ignore the noise, and do it our way. After getting engaged in January of 2024, the first question I’d get asked was when and where we were getting married. To be honest, I found it pretty frustrating as I really wanted to enjoy our time being engaged (and I had no idea when or where we were getting married). We had an engagement party in May of 2024 at Café Select in Soho, and after that we knew we didn’t want to do anything bigger for our wedding.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
We have matching pendant charm necklaces which we have been building over the course of our relationship (each has 16 pendants). We both wore them to the party, and are currently sourcing a pendant to symbolize our wedding!
Any tips for couples getting married?
Try not to get caught up in other people’s opinions about what your wedding should look like – there will be a lot of them. Take your time, block out the noise, and do it your way!
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We didn’t have many vendors, but when we finally nailed down our wedding plans, we knew we needed Parker from Parker Pictures to be part of our day after having her shoot our engagement party last year.
