Tell us a little about yourselves!

Maya Parnevik Roles (25), born in Florida, raised in Stockholm, Sweden. A Swedish lifestyle influencer.

Robert Roles (31), raised in Stockholm Sweden by a Swedish father and an American Mother. Works as a personal trainer.

We met through a simple Instagram message in 2019, but what started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something much bigger. From the very beginning, our relationship has been built on passion, curiosity and a shared love for making life feel meaningful — not only for each other, but for everyone around us.

Over the years, we’ve created a life filled with adventure, celebration and deep connection. From quiet moments at home with our dog Frankie to ski trips, festivals, travels around the world and spontaneous traditions with family and friends, we’ve always found joy in creating experiences and memories together. We both love making things feel special — surprising one another, going the extra mile for the people we love and bringing people together in ways that feel personal and genuine.

A phrase that has guided our relationship from early on is “I see you,” which is also engraved inside our wedding rings. To us, it represents truly seeing, supporting and choosing each other through every season of life.

Our wedding at Bjertorp Slott became a reflection of exactly that feeling — emotional, intentional, joyful and deeply centered around love, connection and the people who have been part of our story along the way.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Throughout our six years together, Italy has always been a very special place for us. It has been one of our most recurring travel destinations and also the place we chose for our honeymoon, so we originally imagined getting married there as well.

In the end, we decided to celebrate our wedding in Sweden so that our older relatives could be there with us, which felt more important than anything else. When we first discovered Bjertorp Slott, it immediately felt like the perfect balance between an Italian and British dream. The castle has such a romantic atmosphere, surrounded by magical gardens and a beautiful fountain where we also held our ceremony.

Inside, the architecture is incredibly beautiful, with preserved details from the early 1900s — elegant stucco ceilings, dark wood panels, and timeless interiors full of character. Jazz music is softly played throughout the castle, something Maya has always felt deeply connected to, which made the entire place feel even more personal to us.

It was also very important to us that our guests could stay overnight at the castle. We wanted to create our own little wedding bubble for the entire weekend, where everyone could fully relax and celebrate together.

The moment we visited Bjertorp Slott, we both just knew it was the perfect place for us.

How many guests did you have?

What was your budget?

80 000 €.

Tell us about your outfits.

The overall vision for our wedding looks was timeless elegance with personal details woven throughout every outfit. We wanted each look to reflect the atmosphere of the weekend while still feeling very true to us.

Robert wore a custom-made suit and tuxedo by Saman Amel, who is not only one of his closest childhood friends but also someone whose craftsmanship he has always admired. From the very beginning, it felt natural and meaningful for Robert to wear Saman Amel for such an important moment in our lives.

For day one, we hosted a white party-inspired welcome dinner where all the guests wore white, while Maya and Robert wore black. We wanted the evening to feel chic, relaxed and reminiscent of an elegant cocktail hour. Maya wore a dress by Helsa paired with timeless Amina Muaddi pumps and a sleek ponytail, creating a look that felt modern, effortless and refined.

For the wedding day itself, the vision was classic and romantic to mirror the atmosphere of the castle. Maya wore a custom-designed gown with a basque waist, corset back, dramatic scarf detail and a veil draped softly over her face. The veil was embroidered with poppies as a tribute to Maya’s German grandmother and her favorite flower, making the look feel even more personal and emotional. Throughout the wedding day, all guests wore black to create a cohesive and elegant atmosphere.

Before the party, Maya changed into a sparkling halter neck dress by Magda Butrym x H&M to embrace the energy of the disco-themed afterparty and bring a more playful contrast to the evening.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

For us, the most important aspect of planning our wedding was creating a deeply personal experience where every guest felt seen, appreciated and special. We wanted people to feel, throughout the entire weekend, that every small detail had been carefully thought through with love and intention.

We focused heavily on meaningful touches that reflected our personalities and relationships. Every guest received a personalized goodie bag and welcome letter upon arrival and we even performed a rewritten version of “Mambo No. 5” during our white party entrance where we mentioned every guest by name. Moments like these immediately created a warm, personal and festive atmosphere.

It was also very important for us to spread the celebration across several days so guests had time to connect before the wedding itself. We wanted everyone to feel close and comfortable together, especially since many guests had travelled internationally to celebrate with us.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

There were many meaningful elements that felt important for us to include throughout the wedding weekend. Family, personal storytelling and honoring loved ones played a huge role in everything we planned.

One of the most emotional decisions we made was legally getting married at city hall a week before the wedding so that Robert’s uncle Gary could officiate our ceremony. After Robert’s mother passed away from cancer, it felt incredibly meaningful for Gary to marry us. We also honored her memory through sunflowers in the bouquets, a reserved front-row seat with her photograph and an acoustic version of her favorite song, “Fix You,” during the ceremony.

Another very special moment was when my grandmother walked me down the aisle. We also chose to exchange personal vows during the ceremony and skipped traditional dinner speeches altogether, allowing the ceremony itself to become even more intimate and emotional.

Throughout the weekend, we incorporated many personal details — from “The Wedding Post,” a newspaper telling our love story and introducing our bridal party and guests, to personalized letters written for every guest at dinner. Even the dinner tables were named after cities and places that had been meaningful in our relationship, each with its own story attached.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Our biggest advice would be to focus less on expectations and more on creating a celebration that genuinely reflects who you are as a couple. The most memorable moments are often the deeply personal ones that make people feel emotionally connected.

We would also highly recommend creating quiet moments together during the day. One of the best decisions we made was waking up together on the wedding morning and having breakfast alone in bed before getting ready separately with our bridal parties. It gave us a calm and meaningful moment together before the excitement of the day began.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

I would especially love to highlight Rawand Younes & Yolanta Birkhane, who did an absolutely incredible job capturing and preserving our wedding days. As a content creator myself, I know how unbelievably hard they worked throughout the celebrations and I’m still in shock that they managed to exceed all of our expectations while both we and our guests barely even noticed they were there.

I would also love to praise Terese & Andy, who helped me design my rings. They made the entire process so fun, creative, and personal. Emma also did a completely magical job with the flowers — she made the entire location feel so “us” in every possible way.

Lastly, Bjertorp deserves a special mention for their incredibly helpful and professional staff throughout the wedding day. They made everything run so smoothly and helped create such a wonderful experience for us and our guests.
