Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met as students working at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter, aged 18 and 20, after being introduced by a mutual friend. Thirteen years later, he retold the story of our serendipitous meet-cute during our wedding ceremony in Provence. To this day we remain a super creative couple, in our early thirties, working as a freelance designer and a supervising scenic carpenter in the film industry. We live just North of London and spend our time renovating our 1890s period cottage, whilst eating sourdough and drinking tea and coffee by the bucket load.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Whenever we spoke about our wedding throughout our 13 year relationship, we always envisioned it being in France. We honestly have no clear answer as to why, it was an idea that grew and never stopped. We entertained the idea of Tuscany once we were engaged, but there was something about France and particularly Provence, that stole our hearts and truly felt like getting married in a home away from home.

How many guests did you have?

We had a small intimate wedding of only 60 guests, we wanted it to feel like a cosy extended dinner party that lasted 3 days.

What was your budget?

Our budget was around the £80k mark.

Tell us about your outfits.

I found a gorgeous small business called Ossatura London who specialised in corsetry. Kezia and Hannah from Ossatura London were an absolute dream to work with, remaking the corset from scratch three weeks out because it was simply not perfect enough in their opinion. The level of detail and care in the 100% silk two piece felt like I was wearing art on our wedding day. After the wedding breakfast I changed into a short skirt with blue ribbon fastening the corset for my something blue for our first dance. A little nod to a tradition but with a twist.

Scott wore a semi bespoke tux from Suit Supply after various fittings in their store near Leadenhall Market in London and wore the Dior timeless loafers.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning  your wedding?

The guest experience was incredibly important to us. We wanted to ensure the food, music and entertainment were thoroughly enjoyed and flowed throughout the day. We were also meticulous with the styling of the weekend, we wanted a certain feeling to shine through and we wanted a photographer who simply got us and captured that feeling in the images.

Our photographer delivered on that brief and we were over the moon when we got our gallery back from Emma Wilder whilst on our mini moon in Greece, she is truly our no1 vendor recommendation from the whole planning process.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted to incorporate our friends into as many aspects of the day as possible. From a dear friend singing us down the aisle to a Lana Del Rey mashup, to another officiating our ceremony as our celebrant, to the friend who introduced us at 18 and 20 doing a personalised reading, and our best mate stepping up as MC. We wanted to be blissed out on the love we were surrounded by, shared by friends and family who played such meaningful roles throughout the weekend.

There were some handmade elements too. We handmade two cornholes for cocktail hour as we are a big games group and transported them to France in our South-London based Florist's van, shout out to Lex Hamilton Floral Studio. We also wrote individual poems as place cards for all of our guests, a token of our appreciation for each and every one of our friends and family. I had a very strong desire to hunt down some serpentine tables and I am so glad I did not abandon the search because we found them in the end they were devastatingly gorgeous.

Any tips for couples getting married?

For the groom, get yourself multiple shirts. One to wear for photos, one to wear for the ceremony and another for the  evening.

Get yourselves a coordinator who has unlimited hours of design consultation until finalised, this was not easy to find and such a selling point. Our coordinator, Amanda, from Amanda Whiston Events, was an absolute angel. From locating  those serpentine tables when my search ran dry, to cutting out foliage which stuck to the bottom of my dress with scissors from her Mary Poppins bag, she was prepared for any eventuality on the day.

Finally, spend that little bit extra on your photographer, you will not regret it! You are paying for your memories to be immortalised and nothing is more special than that!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Emma Wilder, our photographer, was our MVP. She was someone we trusted whole-heartedly to bring our vision for the day to life. She has an eye for styling detail and we knew she would ensure our day was seamlessly translating onto camera. We felt incredibly safe and at ease in front of her lens, she was our own personal cheerleader and made us feel on top of the world.

Zade, our videographer from Zade Film Co., was a calming and relaxing presence as he blended into our friends and family. From a couple who grew up working at a film based attraction, to now working in film, the cinematic energy of our videographer was hugely important and Zade delivered.

Lex Hamilton, our florist from Hamilton Florist Studio, was the only supplier who took the time to meet with us in person before the big day. We met her at The Ned in London and spoke through every floral element from start to finish. On the day, she sculpted meadows, styled ikebana table arrangements and curated bridesmaid corsages with a finesse, a gorgeous personality and an immeasurable talent. From the moment we booked her she instilled a fierce trust in us that she knew what we wanted and honestly, she knew what we wanted better than we  did ourselves.

Véronique, our contact at our venue, Le Mas de La Rose, was a breath of fresh air in our initial venue search. She was extremely responsive and her communication was faultless, which is so hard to come by in Europe and the main reason as to why we chose our venue. We knew we needed a venue which would be easy to communicate with and Véronique delivered this from day one to leaving  as a married couple.
