Tell us a little about yourselves!
Sal and I met in 2023 when he opened his pizzeria (Lucia Pizza of SoHo) just four doors down from where my salon is on West Broadway. On his opening night, I walked over to grab a slice for dinner, not thinking anything of it. I met Sal for the first time and the rest is history. We’ve been together every day since, safe to say it was destiny.
We decided to get married where we did because it’s the same place that we met, so It holds great sentimental value to us.
How many guests did you have?
We broke down the wedding into two segments, a 20 person sit down dinner at The Alimentari with just family and our best man and koumbara. Afterwards, we had a standing reception with all of our friends, about 60 or so people. I’m so type B I never got an official head count.
What was your budget?
We didn’t really have a set budget, we just knew we didn’t want to spend an exuberant amount of money on something that was just going to be for a couple of hours. For us it was more important to spend our money on a great honeymoon, the house we just bought together, and on our baby girl that we have on the way.
Tell us about your outfits.
Sal’s had this black custom suit from Drakes that he’s never had the chance to wear, so that ended up working out perfectly for the wedding. I’m not really your typical “bride’s bride” so I had a hard time finding something that spoke to me. Not to mention, we put the wedding together in about two months so I needed something that wasn’t on back order or made to order like most wedding dresses are. I ended up finding this Paco Rabanne dress that I felt myself in, plus it wasn’t your traditional white so that was a plus.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
Honestly, the most important aspect to us for planning the wedding was really just about having the people there that we’re absolutely closest with. Not to mention, good food too.
Any tips for couples getting married?
The biggest advice I can give to anyone getting married is just remember that it is your day. No one else’s. Someone will always have something to say, regardless of how big or small you’re doing it, but just remember, it’s probably the only day in your life that will literally just be about you and your spouse, so do it exactly how you want, regardless of anyone’s opinion. This is advice that I recieved myself from a childhood friend who’s a psychologist as well and remembering it just made everything so much less stressful, and so much more enjoyable for us.
