Tell us a little about yourselves!

We’re Joris & Frieke. We were together for ten years before we got married in Puglia. We’re based in Antwerp, Belgium. We like our life full: good food, late evenings with friends, far-flung travel, a nice glass of wine, long bike rides and runs side by side.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We love to travel, and Italy is the country we keep coming back to - the food, the wine, the aperitivo, the cities, the beach, the whole way of life. So marrying in Italy was non-negotiable. We wanted the real, unpolished Italy, which is why we chose Puglia. We fell for Masseria Moroseta the moment we stepped into the courtyard. Stylish, unconventional, and built around the table - exactly what we were after. Chef Giorgia is an artist; she brings the very best of Italy to every plate. The architecture is stunning, and the scale was just right. No glam, no bling, no big-stage wedding, just a weekend that was stylish, intimate, and entirely us.

How many guests did you have?

68 – closest family and mostly friends.

Tell us about your outfits.

Joris wore a white custom suit by Tod-B, a Belgian tailoring brand.

Frieke wore Rime Arodaky: a strapless whalebone couture mermaid dress with asymmetrical draping, the neckline and back accentuated with French Chantilly lace inserts. She paired it with removable sleeves in Calais lace and a three-metre veil trimmed with hand-embroidered Chantilly Calais-Caudry lace.

Her shoes were by Spanish brand Lola Cruz, her earrings by French label Gas Bijoux. For the party, she switched into an A-line dress by Meshki, with a pearl décolleté and straps. The wedding rings are by Belgian jewellery designer Elliot & Ostrich.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The weekend was about celebrating our love in the best way we knew, for us and our guests alike. Everyone should feel like they were on a mini holiday, us included. So we worked with one of Belgium’s best wedding planners, The Beloved Nomad, to make that happen. We didn’t just want to host our guests; we wanted to pull them into our love for each other and for Puglia, and to share everything Italy does best.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

It had to be us, one hundred percent. That’s why we chose a personal ceremony, led by Joris’ brother and a close friend. But what mattered most was the total experience - from the food to the styling. One of the reasons we chose Masseria Moroseta was its kitchen, so we wanted to really invest in the menu. The party mattered just as much, so we flew in a DJ from Belgium. From start to finish, we wanted to live our own little dream.

Any tips for couples getting married?

It does not have to be perfect, it has to be you. So let it go and enjoy.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Elke Van den Ende, our photographer, was wonderful to work with. She put us completely at ease and captured the day more perfectly than we could ever have imagined.

Our planners at The Beloved Nomad were outstanding too. They took away all our stress and made both the weekend and the whole planning process an unforgettable experience.
