Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met in 2019 on a dating app. We had our first date at Park Life in Gowanus, Brooklyn and haven't gone a day without talking since. Through the following months, we went on many, many dates and quickly fell in love. We've now been together for about 6.5 years. We're both just really silly and we have a ton of fun together. We live in Bushwick with our two cats, Bunny and Eggs.

Audg is a creative director and producer working at a record label, and Megan is a social media manager working in tech. Audg is very passionate about music and makes music of their own, and Megan is an extremely gifted writer and avid crafter.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We decided first on the general area of upstate NY as it was a great middle ground for both of our families and a short train ride for our friends in the city. When we toured Blooming Hill Farm, it was the last of a four-venue tour day and immediately clicked with us. It's such a beautifully designed venue and blends nature with elegance and whimsy. We loved that they had farm-to-table food and sourced seasonal veggies from their own crops. They had such a kind and welcoming staff, and there wasn't a question we had that they couldn't answer. We immediately felt at ease in their hands.

How many guests did you have?

We shared our day with 105 guests.

What was your budget?

$90K.

Tell us about your outfits.

Megan: It was really important to me to feel comfortable and able to dance. Aesthetically, I wanted to find a balance between a unique vintage feel and something more timeless. I've always been indecisive and very particular with my style, so choosing a wedding dress felt like a particularly high-pressure challenge. This led to eventually choosing and wearing two dresses, which I really didn't intend on doing but am so glad I did.

My first dress that I wore for the ceremony was designed in collaboration with a dressmaker that I connected with on Etsy. I pulled inspiration from favorite aspects of dresses that I had either tried on or had just been gushing over on Pinterest. I worked with Sveltana (Lutien Bridal Gowns on Etsy) on the final design and she brought it to life. Before the day, I got the dress tailored and hemmed at Chasing Tailor in Brooklyn, NY. Nathalie did an incredible job putting the finishing touches on this gown and making sure it fit perfectly. I loved the basque waist detail and the ruching on the bodice, and I am still dreaming about the silk rosettes across the top of the gown.

For my reception dress, I went in a lighter more moveable direction. I fell in love with the Ana gown by Nadia Manjarrez. Its hand-stitched pleating and silk crinkled chiffon fabric give the gown such incredible movement and texture. It maintained comfort while echoing a more timeless bridal look that still felt completely unique.

Finally, I knew that I wanted to incorporate something of my grandmother's with my wedding ensemble. My grandmom passed away one week before our wedding, and so it felt important to include her and honor her however I could. Leading up to the wedding, I had purchased and been planning to wear a long mantilla veil for the ceremony. But in what felt like a stroke of fate, my mom found my grandmother's veil just a few days before the wedding. I knew that I wanted to wear it, and also still incorporate the original mantilla veil. My hairstylist, Jen, did such a great job working with me and my mom to figure out the best way to incorporate my grandmom's veil into my hairstyle in a way where we could still layer the longer mantilla veil on top for the ceremony. It felt so special to have been able to wear my grandmom's veil and include her in our day in that way.

Audg: I did an immense amount of research into tailors with experience in dressing trans-masculine folks. I wanted my suit to appear to fit like a glove and as naturally as possible, but to achieve that I needed to find a tailor that knew exactly where to add and subtract to create the illusion of a masculine form beneath. In all my googling, I kept coming back to a little tailoring shop based in Chelsea, Watson Ellis. They had the kind of polish I was looking for and many examples of tailoring for more than just men. From my consultation to my final fitting, I felt completely taken care of by them. No feedback I had went unaddressed or contested. I even was able to change my jacket from double-breasted to single-breasted in our muslin fitting after hemming and hawing over it. I can't thank the team at Watson Ellis enough for making such a special ensemble just for me.

I ultimately decided on a single-breasted tuxedo to go for a timeless and classic silhouette. The jacket was velvet with a silk shawl collar and silk satin detailing, and traditional tuxedo pants. I had a custom white tuxedo shirt made for me at ProperCloth. I pulled the whole classic look together with Dior Oxfords and an oversized Tom Ford bowtie. I also want to shout out my barber Lex at Seven Fishes and my esthetician Shannon Lee who put in the work pre-wedding to make me glow. The whole look was a dream come true, really.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Throughout the planning process, we were both really focused on maintaining an overarching atmosphere of warmth and making sure that our guests had all of their needs met throughout the night so that they could just relax and enjoy themselves. We also wanted the day to just feel authentic to us and our relationship.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

It seems appropriate that since our whole relationship has felt like we're in a rom-com together, that be our inspiration for small details from the day. Our ceremony kiss was meticulously timed with "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer, a moment we'd been practicing and talking about together for maybe longer than we were engaged.

It was important to us both that we shared a truly private moment with just each other after our ceremony. Audg surprised Megan and sang a song they wrote for her early in their relationship, we toasted to our shared milestone and ate some quick bites before returning to our guests.

Our first dance was "Our House" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, half self-choreographed in our kitchen, half improvised. Our favors were custom CDs, featuring a soundtrack that we curated, designed, and arduously burned ourselves.

We also decidedly didn't really care about cake and wanted to do something less traditional for our dessert, so we decided on Apple Cider donuts and gelato. For our "cake moment", we simply ripped a donut in half and locked arms for our bite.

Lastly, our last song being "party 4 u" by Charli xcx definitely will live in our memories forever. Sometimes you've got to lean into the moment you're in, and it just felt like the coolest way to say "I love you" to our guests, our family, and each other to say, "I only threw this party for you" to end it off.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Be patient with each other and try not to sweat the small stuff. Everything will work itself out one way or another.

Also, take at least one moment on your day to be completely alone and just take everything in. It goes by so quickly, and for so much of the day you are "on" for everyone else, so take a moment with just you and your person to really feel it with each other.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Studio Thao, as you see, completely captured the energy of our day. She brought such a soft and guiding spirit with her, and that brought us a lot of peace. We were both really nervous about being in the spotlight for the whole day, and it was simple with Thao. When we looked through the photos, we were elated and really felt like what we envisioned was what was reflected in our gallery. Dreamy magic.

The whole team at Blooming Hill Farm did such an amazing job. They made everything so easy, the food was delicious, they provided so many of those little things that you don't even remember to think about (hurricane glasses for candles, silverware, umbrellas) and were so organized, well run, and really handled everything day of so that we had a perfectly seamless and stress-free day. They were open to all of our requests and ideas and just took care of everything for us. And not to mention, the food was divine. We feel so lucky to have had Kate from BHF as our coordinator, we swear we don't know if we would have had a wedding without her.

Our guests are still talking about our florals from Zoie Brown at Efflorescent Studio. Megan had a dream of whimsical, ethereal, and eclectic arrangements that merged with the natural farm setting. Zoie and her team brought that dream to life. Our florals and tablescapes were playful, dramatic and just so full of life. Stunning. Better than we even imagined.

Lastly, Dart Collective (+ DJ Isaac) was so great - We ended up changing our music plan at the last minute, and they really came through for us. Isaac listened to all of our requests and do-not-plays and really knocked it out of the park. Music is something that is very important to both of us and is a big part of our relationship, so it was vital to us that the music at our ceremony and reception felt authentic to us.
