Tell us a little about yourselves?

We are both originally from Bendigo in regional Victoria. We dated 10 years ago, when we were both 18. Maddy felt Lauchie was a little ‘too cool’ for her at the time.

After going our separate ways, years later we had both separately moved to Melbourne and coincidently ended up living on the same street. Love was rekindled and the rest is history.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We decided on the Altar Electric for the ceremony because the venue reflected both of our personalities to a tee - bright, fun and a little kooky.

For our reception we essentially wanted all of our favourite people at the pub vibe - easy and laidback which is what the Inner North Brewery delivered.

How many guests did you have?

There were 80 people at the ceremony and about 150 at the reception (one big party).

What was your budget?

We really wanted to try and stay under $50,00 which we did achieve. (Shout out to both families helping too!)

Tell us about your outfits.

We are both very much into fashion and wanted to be able to showcase that on the day.

Maddy always wanted to have a fun party vibe to her outfit with a touch of elegance. The short wedding dress with pearl detailing and short veil brought exactly that. Bright huge heels were a no brainer. They are second hand Versace heels, sourced from Vestiaire and to tell the truth, could not have been more comfortable.

Lauchie came up with the idea to have a short sleeved white suit to match Maddy’s outfit. We both also liked this idea as our groomsmen and bridesmaids were in pops of colour and longer styles.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

For starters we wanted it to showcase exactly who we are as a couple. Secondly, we are two of the most disorganised humans in the world, so a big part of the planning was for there to be as little organisation needed as possible. The ceremony location required zero decorations or organising as they provide the full service for you walk in and walk out. Which is what we love.

Our reception was largely the same. The brewery is full of beautiful plants and hanging lights. We really only had to set up a grazing table and a few smaller decorations with the help of our family.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

It was really important for us to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere (even if we weren’t haha). It was also important to involve our family and other important people in our lives and having them play a part in bringing the day together. It made everything feel much more personal and meaningful.

Also I really wanted to add that Lauchie made both out our wedding bands which we think is pretty darn cool!

Any tips for couples getting married?

Be authentically yourselves and don’t get caught up on people’s opinions or what a wedding ‘should’ look like. Less is also more, and just bloody enjoy the ride.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Honestly, they were all so amazing. The communication and attention to detail with all of the vendors just added to the ease of the lead up and the official wedding day running so smoothly. Big shout out to them all.
