Tell us a little about yourselves!

We are Liam and Kelly! We met during college on a study abroad program called Semester at Sea in 2017. We traveled around the world together for 4 months on a ship, stopping in countries throughout Asia, Africa and Europe and built a strong foundation of friendship... Our first date was actually in Dublin, after the semester had ended! After that, we dated long distance for a few years, living in many different locations and visiting as often as we could (Kelly from Florida and Liam from New York).

Eventually, COVID happened and we were able to try out our first real time spending more than a week together, moving to Arizona for 3 months. Luckily, it was successful and since then we have moved to New York, and then in 2023 decided to move to Dublin, Ireland!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We may have booked the venue before we were actually engaged! When we moved to Ireland in October of 2023, we knew we would want to get married here—and within the first few weeks we had booked a visit to the Killruddery. They had two days available for 2025 and we knew we couldn’t pick a venue more perfect!

We have always shared an appreciation for the lifestyle that the Killruddery suits, offering farm-to-table dining, natural grounds for walking and beautifully homegrown flowers. On top of it all, their Orangery offers an amazing backdrop to their home.

How many guests did you have?

155.

Tell us about your outfits.

Dress – Alexandra Grecco – Phaedra Gown

Veil – (Custom – The lace on the edge of the veil was taken from my mother’s wedding dress)

Tuxedo – Charles Tyrwhitt Shawl Lapel Tuxedo Dinner Suit – Black, tailored just right by Paul Henry!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The music and the food! We knew how much so many of our guests were sacrificing to celebrate with us, and we wanted to showcase the special musicians and food Ireland has to offer!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Liam’s uncle (also named Liam) was our officiant. We wanted someone who knew us and our relationship to help us have a personal and meaningful wedding ceremony.

At the end of the day, we wanted to share the aspects that we enjoy most about Ireland for our guests, and we were so happy we were able to coordinate friends to swim in the Irish Sea, visit some of our favorite coffee shops, and try Guinness around town!

Any tips for couples getting married?

This is nothing new but as quickly as the day goes, just enjoy! Kelly’s brother took my phone through the day to take random pictures which I thought was a really fun way to see the wedding from a different perspective the next day!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Gabrielle Maurer, our photographer, was incredibly thoughtful, involved, and so engaged with all of our guests. We are so grateful she traveled to Ireland to share the weekend with us!

Gemma and her team at the Killruddery were great to us, and speak to how the Killruddery operates to such a high standard! A special shout out to the chef Niall and Gary.

Alex King—our late night music—was our personal star of the show. We found him at one of our local pubs (Jimmy Rabbitte’s) and knew we had to have our guests experience a night in Ireland led by Alex! We were so happy to have him close the night (or early hours of the morning).
