Wedding | Claire & Travis

Tell us a little about yourselves!
Travis and I both grew up in Malibu, CA, however didn’t meet each other until 2021 in Ventura where we still live now. We have three dogs that we love to bring to the park and take to the beach.
We are currently working on remodeling an old 1887 Victorian home together with my parents. Travis is the contractor and I have been learning the ropes of design from my mom. It has been a fun project learning how we can all work together. He is type A, organized and hard-working, I am type B, a bit messy and all over the place. Together we level each other out.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We got married at my parents’ property in Ojai. We spend many weekends going up there with our dogs, hanging by the pool with my parents, and enjoying the garden. Hopefully one day we can move up there as well and have a place of our own. It felt fitting to have our wedding there since it is so special to us and we wanted it to be somewhere we were comfortable at as well.
How many guests did you have?
184.
Tell us about your outfits.
I wore a Danielle Frankel dress that I got from Loho Bride with a veil I found on Etsy. I knew I wanted something simple and elegant and when I tried on the dress I fell in love with it right away. I wish I could wear it to more occasions.
Travis ended up getting a suit from Jim Stych.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
Feeling fun and whimsical. I did not want it to feel serious and cold. I wanted people to be laughing and to feel the warmth of the property. Like an elaborate birthday party with hints of Alice in Wonderland and a circus.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Color! Lots of colors and patterns and flowers! And disco balls! We wanted the ceremony to be surrounded by nature and then to really go all out on decorating for the reception.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Have fun and enjoy every second of it, remember it’s about the two of you—not about anyone else.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
My planner Jessica (Onyx and Redwood) literally made it all possible and helped bring this vision to life, could not have done any of it without her.
Also our photographer Nikki Strekowski captured the day so perfectly and made us look so cool. I will cherish these photos forever.
