Tell us a little about yourselves!
Jordan is SF born and raised. She works in sustainability, helping her company reach net zero emissions by 2030. Dimitri was born in Dallas, went to culinary school in upstate NY, worked in fine dining restaurants in NY, DC, SF, and also staged in Europe. He has now transitioned into consulting and owns his own boutique firm supporting large food and beverage companies with their business strategy.
We met in SF in 2015 on Hinge. Jordan was Dimitri’s first date on Hinge, 10 years later, we decided to tie the knot.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
SF is very special to the both of us – it’s where we first met, and we moved back to SF from LA a year ago. Also, Jordan’s extended family including grandparents are in the Bay Area, so we wanted to make it accessible for them to get to.
We did a small civil ceremony (6 guests total at city hall, after doing personal vows at home). After being together for so many years, we wanted something intimate. We had lunch with our nuclear families at one of our favorite restaurants, Kokkari, right in the Embarcadero.
We then did a tea ceremony and a larger reception in April for friends and family who weren’t at the civil ceremony.
How many guests did you have?
6 at the civil ceremony in March. The April event had 140.
What was your budget?
Would rather not share, but will say that we were very thoughtful about our budget, as we just bought our first home together.
Tell us about your outfits.
Dimitri got his suit custom made from The Armory in Manhattan. The suit was fitted in Manhattan, made in Japan.
Jordan bought her dress from Prada with her mom and brother. Her brother and his husband bought her shoes, also Prada.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
It was truly a labor of love – we had many friends and family pitch in to do aspects of the reception. A few examples, Jordan’s cousin Phoebe designed all of the invitations, bar menus, and table name cards. Our dear friends Mallorie and Andrew have their own beer company, and supplied the party with two types of pilsners. Jordan’s parents used to own a restaurant in SF for 25+ years; her mom was the pastry chef, and she, along with Jordan’s aunts, made homemade cookies for dessert.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Good food, good music.
Any tips for couples getting married?
It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Our friends who did the catering are opening up a new restaurant in SF, called Dingles Public House.
Lela Quiros’ work was absolutely breathtaking. We gave her a super high level vision (fruits, veg and florals), and she turned it into pure magic.
Working with Angela Jazmin Studio was the absolute best. We instantly felt like we were in such capable hands. She got to know us and what was important for each event, she made my family instantly comfortable. We projected the Super 8 film that she shot of our civil ceremony at the reception – everyone loved it. She is a true talent and just a wonderful partner to experience this important moment in our lives.
