Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met in 2020 during the pandemic, living just two blocks away from each other — proximity that made it easy to become inseparable pretty quickly. Josh taught Mollie how to surf, and it's now one of our favorite hobbies to do together, a small ritual that's followed us through the relationship. Josh is from Wales, and Mollie was born in Miami, so somehow the ocean has always been a constant for both of us.

Josh proposed on a trip to La Paz, Mexico for Mollie's birthday — on a horseback ride, one of her favorite things to do. It felt fitting: an adventure, just the two of us, in a place that made the moment feel like ours alone.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Mollie's maid of honor found Quinta de Sant’Ana online during our search, and it looked like the perfect venue right away. We knew we wanted a destination wedding somewhere in Europe — it just felt like us. The Quinta was ideal because guests and the two of us could stay right on site and do everything in one place, no shuttling back and forth. The vineyard made for a gorgeous backdrop all day, and the food and wine were incredible.

Tell us about your outfits.

Mollie’s outfit is from Wed Studio a London based designer purchased at Loho Bride in Los Angeles. Josh’s suit is from Dries Van Noten that we bought for our courthouse wedding and used again for our real wedding in Portugal. Purchased from Mohawk General Store in Los Angeles.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted people to have the best possible experience, from the food to the setting to the celebration itself. A big priority was throwing a party that could go late into the night — something surprisingly few venues actually allow. Ours ran until 1:30 in the morning, and we wanted it to feel like a rave.

More than anything, we wanted as much time with our people as possible. We hosted a welcome party at the Quinta, the wedding itself, and a beach party the following day at Kayak Bar in Ericeira. In the days leading up to the wedding, we stayed with close family and friends at Villa Ana Margarida Beach in Ericeira for three days. Having that much time together made the whole thing feel less like an event and more like a reunion.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

It was important to use to include elements from Mollie’s Jewish culture. We opted for breaking the glass during the ceremony and the Hora during the reception.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Really try and sit back and take it all in. It goes by so fast. Take a couple moments to look at everyone’s faces and see everyone who came out to celebrate you as a couple.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our photographers We.Wedding Photography  were incredible. They captured so many moments in the beautiful documentary style that we wanted.
