Tell us a little about yourselves!
I’m Indonesian (from Jakarta) and my husband is Italian (from Florence), we met in Jakarta and now live together in Rome. We dated for seven years, we both fell in love with each other’s cultures – and we feel Italians and Indonesians are cousins in another life!
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We always wanted to get married in Tuscany, especially that Tommaso and his family are from the region. While scouting we discovered this magnificent Tenuta close to Siena – we fell in love with it at first sight. The place is beautiful and could also accommodate most of our guests for our 3-day affair.
The villa was also used for a filming location for the TV series Killing Eve, and being a fan of films, we fell in love with it even more.

Tell us about your outfits.
Tommaso opted for an elegant, simple navy suit that he can wear comfortably for the whole day and again for future events.
Stephanie: I fell in love with the wedding dress from Paula Nadal from first sight. I made the commitment to order online (I haven’t even seen the dress in real life yet). When I went to London for the fittings I’m glad I trusted my taste and instinct. It is made of hand pleated silk and lace, with cushion bustles inside for the waist and made to measure corset. The look is vintage inspired but still refined and contemporary.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
Authenticity. The biggest compliment we could ever receive was that the wedding truly reflect our taste and personalities as a couple. We filtered and opted out of any elements/activities that felt out of place for us.
Taking good care of the guests. We had friends and family from all over Italy, Indonesia and other parts of the world that meant the world to us – we want to ensure they’re comfortable and having fun throughout!
Avoiding dead wedding moments! That’s why we hired our fantastic wedding band First Brass – they truly turned the event into a lively one.
Colors! We embraced them, you can see there’s barely any white in our wedding. We like playing and mix matching with different palettes, textures and prints that goes well with the Tenuta’s rustic mood.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
The flowers: For us flowers should just be an accent to an already beautiful location, so we kept the quantities to a minimal and avoid things like arches and too much in abundance. But we both do love Tuscan irises, they’re our favorite flower and also grew locally, we begged our florist to source them for us and she delivered! The specific purple ones we wanted were on our bouquets and dining tables. Overall we want the décor and flowers to seem like they belong in Monaciano and have always been there, and didn't feel out of place.
We’re also not a minimalistic couple, we embrace colours and textures, patterns. We wanted to maintain the color palette of Florence/Tuscany, with added fabric elements.
The music: We take this very seriously. We already had playlists since 8 months before the wedding. From the background music, the band to the DJ playlist, we had it covered early on and wanted to make sure they would tell a story and end with a bang. (The bang is the cake cutting with Magic by Polo & Pan being played in the background, it made the moment truly magical).
Invitations: Hand painted illustrations rather than digital. Our lovely illustrator Olivia Provey did our invitations, which we reprinted to the red wine Rosso di Montalcino bottles gifted by Tenuta Buon Tempo, and into the welcome signage. There’s also a little DIY involved, the name cards and table numbers were done by my sister, and I hand wrote names and thank you notes.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Take good care of your guests that have made an effort to come to your special day, they will really appreciate it!
Trust your own taste and be assertive about what you want/don’t want, don’t get swayed by trends or what other couples do on social media!
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We love all our vendors but we want to give a shout out to a few: our photographer Martina Boggian. Her colors and angles are so poetic and timeless, we cannot stop looking at our photos. She also took photographs very discreetly.
Alchimia, our open bar: fantastic cocktails, they are super fast and professional and could source any liquor we wanted.
