Tell us a little about yourselves!
We are two Catalan doctors currently living in Switzerland, navigating life between mountains and memories of the Mediterranean. Our days move between science and intuition, precision and feeling — a balance that mirrors who we are as a couple.
We are deeply rooted in our homeland, endlessly inspired by where we come from: the light, the sea, the long conversations, the way family and friends are never just “close” but essential. Even while living abroad, we carry Catalonia with us — in our values, our rhythms, and the way we celebrate life.
We love the outdoors and the freedom it brings: early mornings, movement, sport, fresh air, and travel as a way of understanding the world and ourselves.
Our wedding is an extension of that philosophy: intentional, intimate, and shared with those who truly matter. Deeply respectful of tradition, yet lived with presence. A celebration of love, friendship, roots, and the beauty of choosing each other — wherever life takes us next.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Because it brings together everything we love.
A traditional masia in the Empordà, overlooking the wild beauty of the Costa Brava, surrounded by an authentic Mediterranean landscape that instantly takes us back to where we spent our summers growing up along this coast. The garden, designed by Caruncho Garden & Architecture, and the presence of artworks by Eduardo Chillida create a rare dialogue between nature and art. It’s a place that feels timeless, deeply ours, and perfectly aligned with how we understand beauty and commitment.
How many guests did you have?
Just over 250 guests — family and friends traveling from different parts of the world. Bringing everyone together in one place felt like a dream come true and a true reflection of who we are.
What was your budget?
For us, the budget was to focus on what was necessary to bring our vision to life. We chose to invest in local, km-0 products, crafted with care by small artisans alongside trusted larger vendors. As lovers of local gastronomy, Jubany’s food played a central role — where we wanted guests to truly experience the flavours, generosity, and spirit of our homeland.
Tell us about your outfits.
My entire wedding-day wardrobe was by Teresa Helbig — from the getting-ready set, to my wedding dress, to the party outfit. Each piece was crafted with meticulous detail and haute couture excellence, perfectly reflecting my essence and desires. Teresa’s personal and attentive approach made the whole process a truly unique and unforgettable experience. A very special moment was sharing it with my mother, who also wore Teresa’s designs — a beautiful memory for both of us.
Discovering Eliurpi for the hat detail was incredible. In her small atelier, she handcrafted the perfect piece, adding a distinctive Mediterranean touch that completed my look. I was hesitant if I should wear a veil because I wanted to see everybody well, but last minute I decided to wear it backwards falling from the hat and I felt so special — and got lots of compliments!
My husband entrusted Santa Eulalia with his total look — an excellent decision that made him feel elegant, stylish, and perfectly tailored.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
The most important thing for us was to create a day that felt natural, intimate, and full of meaning — even from miles away in Switzerland. Having a local wedding planner who is also a wedding stylist we could trust from the very start made all the difference. Carla Kissler helped us turn ideas into moments, details into experiences, and a vision into reality, with a very curated creative design. Every choice, from the landscape to the smallest touches, felt personal, authentic, and unmistakably us.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
For us, incorporating art and local culture was essential. From live painting to traditional Empordà ceramics, every detail reflected our love for creativity and authenticity.
As lovers of design, we wanted to “dialogue” with the wedding elements we were going to incorporate into the landscape’s venue. Both for us, as for Carla, it was a key aspect to make sure we respected its architecture, that’s why we decided to build the banquet tables in a huge cross format outlining the four ponds, or empty the circular pond and get inside of it for the ceremony. Respecting the squares, respecting the circle.
We also wanted to respect the greens of nature, but going a bit out of the typical Mediterranean topic to a more “contemporary” approach by creating sculptural florals and choosing a minimal furniture mix both in whites and blacks. The final design wink: several special sentences calligraphed in between plates to make our guests feel us close, feel at home.
Music was equally important, setting the tone and energy throughout the day. We wanted a sense of relaxed intimacy — a wedding that felt informal yet elegant, where the celebration began the moment guests arrived. From the first toast to the last dance, it was important that everyone could fully immerse themselves in the joy, connection, and festive spirit of the day.
From the very beginning, we were determined that all of this would be beautifully documented. As passionate amateur lovers of photography, we wanted imagery that truly captured the essence of the day — which is why we entrusted Volvoreta, an absolute master at storytelling through the lens.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Enjoy the preparation process and make it your own. Focus on reflecting who you are as a couple, stepping away from classic stereotypes and creating a celebration that truly identifies you. Invest in great local vendors — people who understand your vision and bring it to life with care, with expertise (it’s key), and a deep connection to the place. It’s all about the details. And above all, savour the day together: it will undoubtedly be one of the most beautiful and memorable moments of your lives, enjoyed with family and friends.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We couldn’t be prouder of all the incredible people who made our day so special.
The unforgettable cuisine by Nandu Jubany, who was present to oversee the experience, complemented by Rocambolesc ice creams, set the tone.
Small workshops and artisans — the ceramics from Areté d’Empordà, Lalamp’s hand-made lamps, Cerabella’s candles, Mir Studio’s live painting (we have now hanging in our living room), Eliurpi’s hat, as well as the artists behind Gang and the Wool florals and De Pluma y Letras stationery — added personality and authenticity to every detail.
Outfits were flawless thanks to Santa Eulalia and Teresa Helbig, and Laia Martin made me shine with her hair and makeup.
The music carried us from Arjau Havaneres at the pre-wedding, to Los Antonios, Los Amigos del Novio, DJ 4Garett, and finishing with Hora Loca, keeping the energy alive.
Our friends and family moved us to tears with their speeches and surprises, and the venues — from Hostal Sa Tuna to Mas de les Voltes — captured the spirit of Costa Brava, Empordà, and Girona perfectly.
A very special mention goes to our two guiding women, Carla Kissler and Jimena San Miguel (Volvoreta). From the very beginning, Carla helped us shape, design and organise every detail of the wedding; while Jimena captured its essence through her lens. Their dedication and talent made the planning and the day itself truly unforgettable, and we will always treasure the bond we built with them.
