Tell us a little about yourselves!
Charlotte is from Fribourg and Jessy comes from Evolène. Charlotte works as a wedding planner, and Jessy is the financial director of his family’s business. Twenty years ago, Charlotte’s parents, enchanted by the beauty of Valais, decided to rent an apartment in Evolène year-round — which, by coincidence, belonged to Jessy’s family. It was thanks to a barbecue organized by our parents that we met. Sixteen years of love later, we welcomed our baby boy, Arsène, and finally said “I do!”
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
People from Evolène are deeply rooted in tradition. It is customary for civil weddings to be celebrated in the traditional Evolénard attire — a tradition that meant a lot to Jessy. Choosing Evolène as our wedding location felt natural to us. It's where our story began, and it holds a special place in our hearts.
How many guests did you have?
We chose to celebrate in a very intimate setting, as we’re planning a larger religious ceremony next month with all our friends and family. For the civil wedding, we were just 20 people: our parents, siblings, grandparents, and witnesses.
What was your budget?
For this small civil wedding, we had a budget of 3,000 CHF — and it was more than enough for the heartfelt celebration we had in mind.
Tell us about your outfits.
We wore the traditional costumes of Evolène. Jessy borrowed his outfit from a friend, and Charlotte wore a family heirloom — the bridal dress passed down through generations on Jessy’s mother’s side. His entire family dressed in the traditional Evolénard attire, while Charlotte’s family proudly wore the Fribourg traditional outfits: "Le Bredzon" for men and "Le Dzaquillon" for women. It was a beautiful way to honor both of our roots.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
What we wanted above all was a day filled with authenticity and tradition. We aimed to embrace life's simple pleasures, the love of our families, and the customs that are dear to us. It was essential for us to celebrate in places that truly reflect who we are.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Jessy wanted to honor his late grandfather by wearing something that had belonged to him — the very tie his grandfather wore on his own wedding day. As for Charlotte, she dreamed of a perfectly round bouquet of deep red roses. She's known for her high standards (Jessy might say she's a little demanding!), but the result exceeded all expectations — it was absolutely stunning.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Don’t listen to what others expect of you. This is your day, and you are the only ones who should decide what it looks like.
And one more piece of advice: hire a wedding planner!
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
The Restaurant des Collines, where we celebrated, is run by close friends. Charlotte even worked there during her studies, so it felt like home — warm, familiar, and meaningful. It is a stunning venue in the heart of the mountains, with a rustic charm and breathtaking views. The food is exceptional — even recognized by Gault & Millau — and the service is impeccable. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.
It was important for us to capture the spirit of the day with photographs, but not just any photographer would do. We chose Annabelle at Coucoustudio.love because her work aligns perfectly with our vision and values. And we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
