Real Wedding | Sunny + Cam

Sunny and Cameron wanted to show off their love in a non-traditional way. They didn't want the classic getting ready images or reception detail shots. All they wanted was for their love to be captured in a unique setting with an editorial feel - nothing that screamed 'wedding'!

The couple had to cancel their original plans because of COVID19. In the end they decided this was what they really wanted anyway- something simple and small. Planning their micro-wedding in two weeks was challenging however, like with all art - magic can come from spontaneous decisions. Two days before the wedding, they secured a loft in downtown Los Angeles for a pre-wedding portrait session.

Sunny and Cam and their photographer Albany Katz worked together to capture images with an editorial feel. Sunny wore a modern and classic fit dress from Zara with Sam Edelman gold shoes and a birdcage veil from BHLDN. Her gorgeous stunning black diamond wedding rings are from Marrow Fine. Sunny's minimalist modern look was complemented by a textural bouquet by Poppy Lavender Florals.

Cameron wore Zara from head to toe. After the couple's pre-wedding portrait session, they headed to a private home for a short ceremony with a small group of family and friends.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

"I’ve always been attracted to a stripped down, muted, elegance, and this downtown loft is exactly that. Minimal and chic. I love the way light and textures speak, as opposed to settings that are overtly “wedding”. I definitely wanted a more editorial leaning vibe."

How many guests did you have?

10 which was only immediate family!

Tell us about your outfits.

We threw our wedding together in 2 weeks so we purchased online and crossed our fingers that it fit (no time for alterations!)

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

That we were safe and had the space to speak our vows! Because of covid, I was my own hair stylist, makeup artist (thank you YouTube), and planner!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

I didn’t want anything too glossy or heightened. I wanted to capture a real version of us, albeit a bit dolled up, but still grounded.

Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during Covid?

Forget the fuss - lean into love and go to couples therapy instead!
