Real Wedding | Jasmine & Bobin

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met 4 years ago in San Francisco, a few months before the pandemic. We quickly fell in love -  then unexpectedly found ourselves spending almost every day together, sheltering and working from home. Luckily, we enjoyed the time with each other, bonding over our shared love for delicious coffee, contemporary art, road trips and botanical gardens. Bobin is an industrial designer and Jasmine is a design manager. We still live in San Francisco and have a 3 year old Siamese cat named Kiki.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We both share a passion for design and love the dynamic architecture and playful light in the Marin County Civic Center. It’s the largest public project ever designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The employees at the County Clerk’s office are so friendly and accommodating. They immediately made us feel comfortable booking our civil ceremony and we knew it was the perfect spot for us.

How many guests did you have?

We had 6 guests in attendance - our parents, Jasmine’s brother and our lovely photographer, Elizabeth.

What was your budget?

Civil ceremonies don’t cost more than around $100 in Marin County. We were able to set aside a healthy budget for top quality photographs. We spent about $2,000 in total.

Tell us about your outfits.

Bobin wore a wool suit from A.P.C with shoes by Common Projects. His watch was from Serica.

Jasmine wore a crepe skirt suit by Wilfred with shoes by Staud . Bobin designed and 3D modeled Jasmine’s wedding ring before having it crafted by Nick Engel & Co. in San Francisco. It’s one of a kind!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The most important aspect for us was to celebrate our special day in a way that felt true to our personalities. We both prefer simplicity and we knew we didn’t want a large wedding with hundreds of people in attendance. It was very important to feel like we could be ourselves and celebrate in a comfortable space, in a way that felt naturally joyful.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We were eager to capture the stunning architecture of the Civic Center in our photographs. It was fun to explore every corner of the building with Elizabeth and find new spaces to play with light.

We also wanted to make sure we could be present with our immediate family and spend those special moments together. Keeping our ceremony small meant we got to incorporate personal touches - like Jasmine’s bouquet, which was made by her mom using flowers from her garden. We also got to spotlight Jasmine’s brother’s vintage BMW.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Think about how you would celebrate if you weren’t trying to please anyone else. Make the celebration exactly how big or small you wish it could be. When the big day comes, try to let go of any expectations and just enjoy every moment. Also, always let the moms throw their own, additional parties!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our photographer, Elizabeth Pishal, made us both feel very comfortable in front of the camera, despite being two very camera-shy people! We had a great time exploring and appreciating the unique architecture together. Thanks, Elizabeth, for capturing our most special moments.
