Tell us about your business!
We’re Isla and Eric, a Melbourne-based duo specialising in wedding and portrait photography and super 8. Our journey began on April Fool’s Day in 2016, but there’s nothing joking about our passion for what we do. Having captured now well over 500 weddings, we’re still head over heels for this craft and deeply grateful to every couple who’s trusted us to tell their story.
Where are you based?
We’re proudly rooted in Melbourne, but borders are just lines on a map to us. Whether it’s a remote Australian vineyard or a bustling New York cityscape, we’ll go wherever our couples’ story unfolds.
Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely! While Australia is our base, traveling for weddings fuels our creativity and expands our artistic horizons. We’re incredibly grateful to have worked with couples around the world, with highlights including Italy, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia and the US. These experiences deepen our aesthetic perspective and continuously inspire fresh creativity.
How would you describe your style?
Our style is best described as ethereal, soft, and delicately muted—made to bring out lasting emotions and a gentle sense of intimacy that stays with you long after the moment ends.
What is your most memorable career moment?
What began as a planned October wedding in France transformed into a deeply moving hospital ceremony when the groom's father fell critically ill. In an impressive display of efficiency, the couple arranged everything—from the photographer to the celebrant —in just one day, determined to share this precious moment with his father.
As their photographers, we found ourselves deeply touched and somewhat uncertain, carefully balancing professional duties with the emotional weight and delicate nature of the situation. Though tears filled our eyes throughout the brief ceremony, we managed to capture these irreplaceable moments. The couple's decision to take outdoor photos afterward revealed a profound truth—amidst the emotional strain of caring for an ill family member, they needed this spark of joy to carry on.
By the day's end, we felt an overwhelming sense of fulfilment, knowing we had helped preserve cherished memories during one of their most challenging times.
How would you describe your working style?
For 95% of the time at the event, we’re storytellers behind the lens—quietly observing and capturing unscripted, fleeting moments as they naturally unfold. That said, we’re always ready to step in with gentle guidance when needed, whether it’s offering subtle direction or a kind nudge to keep the day on track.
What we think will set us apart is our curiosity for details that might often go unnoticed. Through our unique lens and perspective, we combine the seemingly ordinary with creative angles to craft extraordinary visuals that bring your story to life in a way that’s both authentic and artistic.
Back to studio, our working style is a mix of hustle and balance. Isla is the team’s night owl, often burning the midnight oil to deliver results to clients as swiftly as possible, though she’s committed to getting her 8 hours of sleep! Eric, a new dad, has mastered the art of balancing wedding work with his growing family.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
We do both digital and film. While digital is essential for its precision and flexibility, we’ve been long time fans of film photography and Super 8 videography before it became popular again. The timeless charm and unique texture of film have always captivated us. It’s now an integral part of our work and we’re thrilled to see its rise in popularity.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
While our standard package covers most weddings beautifully, we absolutely love offering custom packages that let couples’ imaginations run wild. We believe in tailoring each experience to fit their unique vision, ensuring that every detail reflects your personal style and story.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
Our favourite product at the moment has to be analog film photography and Super 8 reels. We’ve always been drawn to the nostalgic beauty and raw emotion they capture, so seeing them make a strong comeback in weddings is exciting! We also take pride in having the necessary intricate skills required to work with these analog formats, adding a timeless, cinematic touch to every story we tell.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
We would love to explore more of New York and Japan this year —two places that embody the heartbeat of culture and innovation, each in their own distinct way. That said, we’re always excited to go wherever our work takes us—each new destination offers its own world of inspiration and growth.
