Callie and Andre from Florido Weddings are a duo with over a decade of experience capturing weddings through an editorial-meets-documentary lens. Their style blends artful, hands-on direction with genuine, unscripted moments. They work with both film and digital formats, prioritising film. Based in QLD, Florido Weddings serve all of Australia and are available for both domestic and international travel.

Tell us about your business! 

We are Callie and Andre, a friendship duo who have been shooting weddings together for over 10 years. We are an editorial-meets-documentary wedding photography studio. We create imagery that feels both artful and deeply personal, blending thoughtful direction with genuine, unscripted moments. Our approach is for couples who care about style but not at the expense of enjoying their whole experience.

What would you like couples to know about you?

 I’d love couples to know that you don’t need to know how to pose or perform for the camera. Our job is to create space for you to be yourselves, guide you when you need it, and make sure you leave with photographs that feel authentically you but on your best day.

Where are you based?

We are based in QLD but we service all of Australia under one pricing.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes, we travel for about 70% of our bookings. This includes nationally and internationally.

How would you describe your style?

Editorial, but never overly polished. Documentary, but never just accidental. We are not afraid to embrace colour, movement and a little chaos if it tells the story honestly. We love creating images that feel stylish without chasing trends, and emotional without feeling staged.

What is your most memorable career moment?

We’ve been photographing weddings for 14 years, and while there have been plenty of incredible weddings along the way, the most memorable point in our career was a few years ago, post covid which is when the industry opened up creatively. Weddings became less about following a formula and more about individuality. Couples were becoming more interested in personality, artistry and authenticity rather than tradition for tradition’s sake. This gave us the opportunity to bring more of ourselves into our work and really lean into the influences of our fashion and editorial work which we had previously kept separate to weddings.

What inspires you?

The people, without question. Not in a big sentimental way, but because every wedding drops you into a world you’d never otherwise get to experience. For one day you get invited into someone’s family, their friendships, their traditions, the way they celebrate, the things they care about. It’s a really unique position to be in.

After 14 years, that’s still the part that hasn’t become ordinary. Every week we are seeing a different version of what love, family and community looks like. I think that constant exposure to people’s lives keeps us curious, and curiosity is probably the biggest thing that drives the way we photograph. We are always looking for the little moments that tell you who someone really is, rather than just what their wedding looked like.

How would you describe your working style? 

We’re incredibly hands-on when we need to be. We give plenty of direction, so our couples are never left wondering what to do so you definitely won’t be left standing there feeling awkward.

At the same time, we know when to disappear. Once everyone settles in and the day starts unfolding naturally, we step back and blend into the background. 

We’re also not precious about getting involved. If a dress needs fixing, a table setting needs tweaking, or something is out of place, we’ll jump in and sort it. Weddings can be chaotic, and we’re always looking for the little things that will make the photos stronger.

We also love curating locations and ideas for our couples portrait section of the day. Whether that's finding an unexpected location or creating custom styling and backdrops, it's one of our favourite ways to make every gallery feel unique.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

We shoot both. Our film package is designed to be the main feature of the day with digital as the back up for moments such as family photos and fast paced shots that are safer to shoot on digital.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes, while we do have set packages everything is completely customisable.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?  

Our favourite service is definitely our two-photographer package with film. It’s the package that allows us to make the most interesting work.

Having two photographers completely changes how we shoot. Instead of one person trying to do everything, one of us can stay locked into documenting what's naturally unfolding while the other has the freedom to chase light, experiment, and create something a little unexpected.

It also means we can really lean into film. We can bring multiple film cameras loaded with different stocks, mix formats, swap lenses, and shoot in a way that's much more intentional. The result is a gallery that feels layered and varied, instead of every frame looking like it came from the same camera with the same lens.

For us, it's the sweet spot between documenting the day honestly and having the freedom to make something that's genuinely creative.

Where would you love to travel to for work? 

Honestly, we're not chasing a bucket list of destinations. Some of our favourite weddings have been in places most people would drive straight past.

What we love is ending up somewhere we never would have gone otherwise. Whether that's a tiny country town, a family property that's been in the same family for generations, or a coastal shack that means everything to a couple. We get invited into places that are deeply personal, and that's a pretty special part of the job.

We have been lucky enough to shoot international weddings in Europe, Asia and America multiple times but we're just as excited by a wedding in a place we've never heard of. Those are often the ones that surprise us the most. It's less about how exotic the location is and more about getting to experience somewhere through the eyes of the people who love it.

Who is your dream client?

Our dream clients are the people who care deeply about how their wedding feels, not just how it looks.

They don't need to have a huge budget or a Pinterest perfect day. They're just confident enough to do things their own way and trust us to document it honestly. The best weddings are usually the ones where the couple aren't trying to perform for the camera, they're present, they're having a great time, and they let us do our thing.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

Take some time for yourselves to have a moment (the day goes very fast) and do your best to not sweat the small stuff and have as much fun as you can.
