Tell us about your business!

I’m Elizabeth! A documentary film and digital wedding photographer based in San Francisco, CA who welcomes travel worldwide.

Ever since my first 'real camera' was gifted to me as a teenager, I haven’t stopped finding beauty in everyday life. I am a storyteller at heart, and creating stories through images is one of my favorite things.

What would you like couples to know about Elizabeth Pishal?

My interest in documenting weddings began when planning my own wedding in 2019. I realized many photographers were skipping over the intricacies, avoiding the imperfect, and ultimately not telling the whole story.

I’ve come to understand that weddings are so much more than just pretty pictures. Each celebration holds an intangible feeling that I can only attempt to convey through photos. It is my hope that my work sparks something in you and takes you back to exactly how you felt on your wedding day.

Where are you based?

I am based in San Francisco, CA.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I am available for travel for weddings within the Bay Area, Napa Valley and worldwide. I have worked in places like Portugal, Charleston, and Tuscany and would love to visit again!

How would you describe your style?

As a deeply sentimental person, I have a natural ability to recognize human connection. With a camera in my hand, I’m able to tell your unique love story through imagery.

What is your most memorable career moment?

My most memorable career moment was photographing a dear coworker’s wedding at San Francisco City Hall. It was my first City Hall wedding and I was pretty nervous. However, my nerves were immediately calmed when I arrived at her Pac Heights apartment and documented her sweet first look with her wife-to-be. It was truly heartwarming to witness their giddiness and genuine love for each other.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the perfectly imperfect aspects of a wedding day. A gust of wind blowing the bride’s veil across her face, a grandparent reaching for a tissue for their tears, a pile of high heels next to the dance floor– I’m here for all the details that tell the story of your wedding day.

What motivates you to do what you do?

I’m motivated by my sweet couples! Witnessing their love story unfold and documenting those special memories is something I truly cherish.

How would you describe your working style?

My ultimate goal is to make you feel comfortable in front of my lens. My job is a balance between knowing when to say nothing and document the candid in-between moments as they unfold, and when to coach you through playful, fun movement. Think of me as your camera-wielding third wheel!

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

Both! Film photography encourages a slower, more deliberate way of shooting, as it requires careful consideration of composition, exposure, and focus before capturing the moment. I love the distinct qualities of film, such as its organic grain structure, vibrant colors, and nostalgic aesthetic. The resulting images carry a sense of authenticity and timelessness, preserving memories and moments in a way that feels inherently special.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes! I believe every wedding is unique, so I offer custom packages based on my couples’ unique vision for their day.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

My City Hall elopement package! City Hall is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in San Francisco, with a rich and storied history. I absolutely love documenting City Hall weddings, and am proud that the road to marriage equality passed through there.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

I’m a sucker for any venue on the water– Lake Como, Greece, Kauai - anywhere with a gorgeous view and chance for a boat ride!

Who is your dream client?

My dream client is head over heels about their partner, has a unique sense of style and loves a candlelit dinner party with funky tunes!

What is your advice to couples getting married?

As a former bride, my biggest piece of advice is do whatever you want! Don’t get caught up in trends or other people’s opinions. Stay true to yourself and enjoy your big day with your person.
