Amanda Pool Photo is a documentary wedding photographer with a focus on 35mm and 120 medium format film. She prefers to be immersed in her couple’s day as a friend and collaborator —capturing the happenings and details of weddings as they unfold naturally as well as capitalizing on joint inspiration, creativity, and feeling. Amanda Pool Photo is based in San Francisco, CA, and am available for weddings worldwide.

What would you like couples to know about you?

I am low-key, gentle, and intuitive. I am a deep feeler, inspired by human connection and design, driven to capture and create meaning in life through relationship and art —often together.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I travel all over for weddings and love to travel. This year I’m lucky to be photographing weddings all over California and the US and would love to expand.

How would you describe your style?

Creative, down-to-earth, unobtrusive, and thoughtful. The sanctity of wedding days is never lost on me, and I always want to be as discerning as possible — not only with my art but with my presence and energy. Mostly documentary and sometimes editorial, I draw on the feelings of the space and the relationships with my clients to produce honest imagery.

What inspires you?

1960’s & 70’s design, fashion, coffee table photo books, being in a new city, chatting with strangers on an airplane, documentaries, going to the movie theater, old photographs.

How would you describe your working style?

Gentle suggestions and good conversation. I love being sneaky and running around behind the scenes to get candids of your loved ones and guests, but I also love to engage, dance, and laugh.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

I shoot both, but film is my great love and I prefer to shoot mostly film.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

All of my pricing is custom and is based on the needs of each individual event and couple.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

New York, Palm Springs, Mexico City, Lisbon, Berlin. The list could go on and on.

Who is your dream client?

My dream client loves to combine vintage and modern and gets creative with their wedding design, fashion, and guest experience. Most of all, they have big, sentimental hearts, cherish their community, and want their wedding mostly documented with film.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

The best photos and galleries come from couples who are able to be present, let go of any hyper-vigilance of the camera, and have the best time. Laugh, cry, dance, and feel whatever it is that you need to feel. Hold on to each other. These moments are what I seek and love to document because they are real.
