Tell us about your business!

Mémorelle is a wedding photography and film studio founded by Bárbara and Tiago, a husband-and-wife team based in Portugal. We create thoughtful, artful imagery for couples who value the feeling of a day as much as the way it looks. Our approach brings together honest moments, refined composition and a cinematic sensibility, with digital photography, 35mm film and Super 8 all forming part of our visual language.

What would you like couples to know about you?

We want couples to feel that they can be fully present on their wedding day. We work calmly and attentively, creating space for real moments while guiding when needed. For us, the most meaningful photographs and films are not simply beautiful records; they bring you back to the people, atmosphere and emotion of the day.

Where are you based?

We are based in Portugal, where we photograph weddings across the country, from the coast and countryside to historic cities and private estates.

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely. We photograph and film destination weddings throughout Portugal, across Europe and worldwide. We love discovering new places and translating the character of each setting into imagery that feels personal to the couple and true to the atmosphere of the celebration.

How would you describe your style?

Our style sits somewhere between documentary storytelling and fashion-led imagery. We are drawn to honest, unfiltered moments, unexpected frames, beautiful imperfections and the subtle details that give a celebration its own character. We care about composition and aesthetics, but never at the expense of what is real. The result is imagery that feels considered yet effortless, with a sense of individuality, movement and emotion.

What is your most memorable career moment?

Having our work featured in publications such as Vogue and The Wed has been a meaningful milestone for us. It is special to see our imagery recognised by publications whose visual worlds we admire. But what stays with us most is knowing that the photographs and films we create become part of a couple’s personal history — something they can return to years later and feel connected to all over again.

What inspires you?

We find inspiration in cinema, fashion editorials, architecture, art, travel and the changing quality of natural light. Above all, we are inspired by people: their relationships, their gestures and the small unscripted moments that give each wedding its own identity.

How would you describe your working style?

We work as a close team, with a calm, observant and considered approach. We pay attention to the rhythm of the day and the relationships around the couple, offering gentle direction when it helps while leaving room for moments to unfold naturally. We want our presence to feel reassuring, never intrusive.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

Both. We combine digital photography with 35mm film and Super 8, choosing each medium for the feeling and texture it brings. Digital allows us to work responsively throughout the day, while analogue formats add a tactile, nostalgic quality that we love. The result is a considered mix of mediums rather than a one-size-fits-all formula.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes. We offer collections that can be tailored to each celebration, depending on the couple’s plans and priorities. Our Photography and Videography collection is a favourite because it allows us to tell the story of the day through both still imagery and film, creating a cohesive record of the celebration. We are happy to discuss each couple’s plans and help them find the right fit.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

Our favourite is our Photography and Videography collection, because it brings together two complementary ways of preserving a wedding day. Photography captures fleeting expressions and thoughtful details, while film preserves movement, voices and atmosphere. We also love incorporating 35mm film and Super 8 where they suit the couple and celebration, adding another layer of texture and nostalgia.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

We would love to keep discovering places with a strong sense of atmosphere and identity, from the Italian countryside and the French Riviera to destinations further afield. What matters most to us is not simply the location, but the opportunity to tell a story that feels connected to the couple and the place they have chosen.

Who is your dream client?

Our dream clients have a strong sense of who they are. They value individuality over tradition for tradition’s sake, care about aesthetics but leave room for spontaneity, and want their wedding to feel like a genuine reflection of their relationship. We love working with couples who trust the creative process, embrace the unexpected and are more interested in creating something personal than following a formula.

How do you select music for your films?

Music is an essential part of the emotional language of a film. We look for a track that fits the atmosphere of the wedding and the couple’s personality, while also supporting the natural rhythm of the images. We want the music to feel considered rather than imposed, helping the film bring back not only what the day looked like, but how it felt.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

Choose what feels meaningful to you, rather than feeling pressured to follow expectations or trends. Make space in the day to be present with one another and with the people you love. The details matter, but the moments you experience together are what stay with you — and those are often the moments you will treasure most.
