Tell us a little about yourselves!

We’re a very creative and musical couple. Vince is a musician and Soumia works in radio, so music and creativity are a big part of our lives and the way we connect with people. We both love being around friends, sharing food, listening to music and keeping things relaxed and unpretentious. That spirit is something we really wanted to carry through into the way we celebrate our wedding.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We chose the Portuguese Tennis Club in Marrickville because it’s the kind of place we naturally gravitate towards. The Marrickville Tennis Club is just vibes. It’s summer, it’s hanging out with friends, it’s beers in the sun, great food and, of course, tennis!

The plan was to keep the day very low-key. We got married on the courts, played a few friendly matches in the afternoon, and then headed inside for dinner and a dance floor. We kept things simple and community-driven, so apart from the venue and photographer, most of the day came together with the help of friends. It just felt like the most natural way for us to celebrate.

How many guests did you have?

140.

What was your budget?

$30k.

Tell us about your outfits.

Soumia wore Moss by Sarah Seven. The shoes are from JW PEI and I hot-glued the gems on myself.

Vince wore a custom suit from P Johnson.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

A good run sheet saved the day more than once. We shared it with everyone involved so no one needed to ask us on the day what was happening next.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted everything to feel relaxed and fun. It was important for us to have one venue for everything, a very casual ceremony and a long party.

Any tips for couples getting married?

It’s hard to hear when you’re planning and worrying about the details, but on the day, you will forget all about it and have the best time. Just keep breathing!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Danica Moorcroft designed and made my earrings and necklace. She was so attentive and helped with all my questions. She just made me feel so relaxed and the pieces were literally a dream come to life.

Damien Milan was our photographer and completely blew us away with his attentiveness. He was incredibly thoughtful and proactive, checking the venue beforehand, considering the direction of the sun, and even helping us think through the timing of the day so everything could flow naturally while allowing for relaxed photography. He brought such a calm presence and the photos are absolutely gorgeous. His care throughout the whole process was truly outstanding.

Georgia Hull was my make up artist and I’ve literally never looked hotter. She was also such a great advocate for a bit of space and quiet when I was feeling anxious. I can’t recommend her enough! Thank you, G!
