Tell us a little about yourselves!

It was March 2021, when Isaac first came to trial at Aria restaurant, where I was working and the attraction was instantaneous for him. But I keep things closer to my chest and don’t always let people into my heart easily. So, it took me around eight months to finally drop my guard with Isaac. But once I did, he quickly claimed a special place in my heart forever. We have been inseparable ever since.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Coming from a hospitality background, Isaac and I knew exactly what we wanted when it came to food, wine and service. We are suckers for a good interior too. Joel Bickford is an exceptionally talented chef and Alex Kirkwood knows his wines. We knew we were in good hands. I also had my eyes on those plush cushions, comfy armchairs and warm lighting in the dining room. The monochromatic clock tower bar sealed the deal for us. We were drawn to the bold red interior and high ceilings. It was an instant yes to Shell House.

How many guests did you have?

48.

What was your budget?

We initially dove into planning without a set budget, but after realising the importance of financial planning midway through, we became more mindful of our expenses and ended up spending just under a 100k.

Tell us about your outfits.

I have never come across anyone like Danielle Frankel. Unfortunately, we do not have easy access to all the pieces in Australia. I always had my eye on the Charlie gown which I got to try at a trunk show in Melbourne. The wool and silk fabric felt super luxe and the minimal yet timeless design was incredibly comfortable. The pleated Chantilly veil stole the show which I turned into a cape/scarf after the ceremony.

Isaac opted for Mawson Ossa as their value and vision resonated with his – timeless, sophisticated, quiet luxury. He appreciates beautiful fabrics and craftsmanship over loud styles. Mawson Ossa was an easy choice for Isaac. The personable service also made the difference. A classic tuxedo but a monochromatic palate allowed the suit to show off its understated elegance.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Planning it on our own and staying true to ourselves. It was important for us to cherish the process, despite its occasional stress, choosing our sanity over unnecessary formalities.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

With my Nepali heritage in mind, I wanted to incorporate lots of red hues. It symbolises love and marriage. It was however important for us to keep it understated avoiding overly dramatic looks.

Any tips for couples getting married?

As you plan your special day, remember to stay true to yourselves and prioritise your peace. Despite all the hurdles and stress, it all works out in the end.

While not everyone will understand your vision, surround yourself with positivity and trust your instincts. Your wedding day is a celebration of your love, and it’s perfectly okay to make choices that reflect your unique style and bond. Focus on what makes you happy and know that those who truly love and care for you are there to simply celebrate you, not to judge.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

We did not have a wedding planner, but Monique Mauceri, events manager at Shell House made it so easy. We would like to thank her for all the support and patience. Aniella Batten, our beautiful celebrant, is no stranger in the wedding world. We’ve read it somewhere, “She is destined to bring people together”. We believe it’s true. Masie, Maison Paper went above and beyond. We’d choose her over and over again. Eric and Mark, Emotions and Math are extremely kind and talented. Their skills are truly one of a kind. Jai Winnell and everyone involved, Hermetica flowers for a statement backdrop and the most beautiful pink hydrangeas. The entire team at Capella who made our stay one to remember, Thank you.
