Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met over 12 years ago when we were both 18 and 19 years young, moved to separate universities up and down the country, then both to London to start our careers. We lived there for many years and finally came back to our home town to buy a house - and more importantly parent our perfect whippet Paolo (dog).

We are always on holiday and are looking forward to our honeymoon to New Zealand at the end of the year. Post wedding we travelled to Ibiza for a week, relaxed after the chaos but found time to party into the night.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We always wanted a smaller, lowkey wedding at a registry office, so decided to choose one in London as we both lived there for many years before we moved back to our home town.

London and Bermondsey have a special place in our hearts, so it was the perfect place to tie the knot and celebrate with our friends and family.

How many guests did you have?

At the ceremony, we kept this to our close family with only 25 people there, then there were 90 guests in total at the reception.

Tell us about your outfits.

My dress was the first thing I purchased once we got engaged, I had the Taller Marmo dress before the wedding was even booked! I was completely in love with it from the moment I saw it, the feathers were everything. I had planned for a second look for the night but ended up keeping it on all night.

Sam’s outfit was originally supposed to be a long sleeved shirt we had spent hours searching for. However, as the day got closer and we saw the predicted weather, he decided to go the short sleeved route, which worked perfectly. A cool casual shirt with tailored trousers paired with some Paraboots. The colour of the shirt and the dress matched perfectly on the day, a nice surprise to us both!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The most important part for both of us was just to make sure we threw an amazing party. We wanted the day to be really relaxed, with good food, good music and great wine! The aim was for a full dance floor all night which was definitely achieved. The DJ and music were amazing. We didn’t want the wedding to be over after the big day, so we planned a second day - lots of pubs around London for a debrief and catch up. This was a perfect end to the weekend.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Weddings are for fun parties, make sure your music is great and everything else will be fine! Everything you worry about in the lead up to the wedding becomes so irrelevant on the day, don’t stress it. Always have a drink in your hand!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Roha Flower, the florist who created the bouquet, was amazing, executing it perfectly with the feathers and the bright pink colour requested. It was an unusual request and a lot of florists had turned us away but Roha Flower were more than happy to make the perfect bouquet!

Pedro’s Wine Bar, the most amazing venue for a smaller wedding. Pedro himself was incredible, he basically dealt with everything, between him and his team they didn’t have to worry about a thing in the run up to it and on the day. The food was unbelievable, Portuguese tapas, everyone has said how incredible it was.

Jessica Gwyneth, the photographer! She got every single shot exactly how they wanted, finding the best spots and getting them into the right places. Not once did she pull them away from anything for photos, so many behind the scene shots, she blended in and snapped away, it was so natural and the photos speak for themselves!
