Tell us a little about yourselves!
Cole and Minna met in Tahoe CA back in 2013, their freshmen years of college. Minna was living in NYC at the time and Cole in San Luis Obispo CA. Over the next few years they made an effort to frequently visit each other. In 2020 during covid Minna fled NYC to Florida to be with her mother Diane. Cole came to visit and ended up staying a month. After a second trip to Florida Cole convinced Minna to move back to their home town of the SF Bay Area. Cole proposed at Phoenix lake in Marin county in March 2024.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Minna's family has a long history in Door County. Her maternal great grandfather played golf at Peninsula State Park just after WW2 and they've been coming to Door county ever since. Minna's father and stepmother moved to Ellison Bay full time in 2020. They also have a vacation home "Valhalla" in Sister bay that Minna and Cole visit/stay at multiple times a year.
How many guests did you have?
We had 95 guests.
What was your budget?
Our wedding day budget started at 50k. Even in Door County things add up and we ended up going over.
Tell us about your outfits.
Minna wore a Vivienne Westwood galaxy cape gown in custom fabric. Cole wore a custom Suit Supply mohair tux.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
We wanted to create a relaxed, fun, authentic environment for our guests that was representative of our love for each other. We did not want the wedding to feel like a formal event.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
For Minna the design was important. She wanted to create a polished but lived in artistic floral setting. Sami from Oldies Flower Co. was integral in creating this. Minna also wanted to be surrounded by nature and Woodwalk was the perfect venue.
Together we wanted really good food and beverages. The Black Orchid created such good food and Cole spent months curating the wine list.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Do what feels like you more than doing what you think a typical wedding should be. Create moments of fun with your partner. Be with your partner throughout the evening so you have shared experiences.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Our vendors were the best! We had one of the biggest storm Door County has seen in years and everyone held it together and took care of us. We could not have pulled off he wedding without Laura (xoMe). Not only are our pictures exactly what we hoped for but she referred us to almost all of our vendors and helped us build out our day. Again Sami from The Oldies Flower Co. created florals of my dreams and The Black Orchid's food was incredible. Lastly Joslyn and Matt from Woodwork truly took such good care of us on our wedding day. They were calm cool and collected and helped us and our guests have the most memorable night.
