Tell us a little about yourselves!
We’re both New Englanders and met in Boston 7 years ago after graduating from college. We started dating not long after and since then we’ve done a year of long distance, two years side by side in a 500-sq-ft apartment during COVID, a move to Brooklyn (where we now call home), and countless adventures near and far. From the very beginning, we’ve felt like true partners, and getting married felt like a natural continuation of the life we’ve been building together.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Vermont has always held a special place in our hearts. Henry grew up in Northern Vermont and spent winters skiing in the Mad River Valley. More recently, after falling in love with the area through him, my family bought a home there as well. Our connection to the community, paired with the unmatched beauty of Vermont summers, made it an easy choice.
The Inn at The Round Barn was one of the first venues we visited, and we knew right away it was the one for us. Its warm, homey feel and the chance to have our friends stay on-site created exactly the kind of intimate, welcoming environment we envisioned for our wedding.
How many guests did you have?
175.
Tell us about your outfits.
Because Vermont has such a laid back feel, we wanted our outfits to be formal yet still reflect the energy we love there. For the “garden party” vibe, Henry chose a relaxed, colorful linen suit in green from Suit Supply.
I am a lover of all things vintage, and found my dream dress(es) at Cha Cha Linda, a vintage bridal shop in Brooklyn. Eva, the owner, has an incredible eye for timeless, high-quality pieces and even knows the stories behind many of them, which made the whole experience so special. To tie it all together, I chose yellow Jimmy Choo's that echoed the color of the inn and the garden setting.
Our engagement ring and wedding bands are both from Suzy B Jewelry.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
When we started dreaming up our wedding, we kept coming back to our favorite childhood memories in Vermont. Henry’s days at his home on Lake Champlain and mine at overnight camp, both of which always ended with long outdoor dinners surrounded by family and friends. We wanted our wedding to feel like a recreation of that - a fun, relaxed celebration with the people we love most. We also wanted to create an intentional and loving environment where our guests felt deeply appreciated. We are who we are because of them, and it was important that our day reflected that.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
While neither of us are religious, it was important to us that the day carried a sense of spirituality and reflected our shared appreciation for nature. That inspiration touched every detail, from the symbolism woven into our ceremony and invitations, to the poems we chose, to the farm-to-table dinner we enjoyed outdoors at dusk.
We also felt passionately about the dancing. We dreamed of a night where the dance floor was never empty, and our band delivered exactly that. We also closed the celebration with a silent disco under the stars which was a magical finale to a day we’ll never forget.
Any tips for couples getting married?
The weekend goes by so fast - make sure to be intentional about pausing, looking at each other and your loved ones, and soaking in the gratitude of the moment. It truly is the most special day.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Parker Pictures - Parker was the very first vendor we booked. I’d been following her work for a few years and knew I wanted her to capture our day. She made us feel so comfortable and effortlessly documented the love, the details, and the candid, in between moments that made everything so special. She also connected us with our amazing Super 8 videographer (Jeremy Gumener) and content creator (Mara Ursu). Together, they were an incredible team and we truly couldn’t recommend them more.
Inn at The Round Barn Farm - We absolutely adored this venue. It’s such a magical space, and working with the staff was a dream. Kim, the owner, was wonderfully organized throughout the planning process, and she and her team brought our vision to life so beautifully. On top of that, the food was phenomenal… we’re still hearing from guests about how much they loved it.
West Lane Flowers - I have such an appreciation for florals and Kelsey was the perfect partner in bringing our vision to life. She has such an amazing eye and was so thoughtful about balancing creativity with respect for our budget. Every detail felt intentional and unique and we couldn’t have asked for a better collaborator.
