Tell us a little about yourselves!
Hayden and I have been together for six years. Hayden is an electrician and I’m an accountant, and outside of work we love keeping things simple — coffee dates, evenings at a local wine bar, and long walks with our dog, Pinot. Family and friends are everything to us, and spending quality time with these people is what we do in our spare time.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We always loved the idea of a winery wedding, and there were never really any question about where we would get married — the southwest of WA holds such a special place in both our hearts. I grew up in Ferguson Valley, just an hour away, and it was the destination for our annual beach holidays, offering the perfect balance of feeling like home while still being on holiday (my favourite feeling!). Since being with Hayden, we go down south several times a year to spend time with family and retreat.
How many guests did you have?
Just less than 120.
Tell us about your outfits.
I always envisioned something understated and minimal, with a timeless feel. With limited options in Perth, Mum and I made a weekend trip to Brisbane to try on dresses. I ended up choosing the Yolanda Gown by Prea James Bridal from Sphere Bridal Gallery. I didn’t try on many dresses, but the moment I put this one on, it was everything I had imagined in a wedding dress. My shoes were from Staud, which I had picked up when Hayden and I went to NYC, and my earrings were my grandma’s pearl studs. I’ve always preferred simple jewellery, so keeping my accessories minimal on the wedding day felt perfectly aligned with my everyday style.
For my second/reception outfit, I wore a relaxed silk set made by Perth designer Tatiana’s Fashion Studio. I had worn it to my hen’s party and loved it so much that I knew I wanted wear it again, and on the Dance Floor at the wedding felt fitting.
For Hayden, the process was much simpler, as it often is for men! He wore a custom suit from Oscar Hunt, complementing the style and feel of the day with the black-tie dress code.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
Above all else, we wanted to make sure our guests had an amazing time and didn’t have to stress about too much, especially being a semi-destination wedding. Another priority for us was weaving personal touches into the day so it truly felt like us. And for me I loved the design/styling element of the day so working with Laura (Pop Up Planning Co) on this was a fun part of the whole process.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Every element of the weekend was carefully considered, with subtle, personal details that reflected parts of our lives. Three elements that were important to us to incorporate were our family’s wine (Green Door Wines), our dog (without having her there) and our favourite dessert, tiramisu.
On the Friday evening before the wedding, my parents hosted welcome drinks at our family beach house in Eagle Bay, where there were magnums of Rosé that my Dad had made especially for the weekend. He also created two magnums for guests to sign on the day, which became such a meaningful keepsake for us.
For the reception, Hayden and I envisioned an intimate wine bar–style bistro, and Pop Up Planning Co brought Walker’s Wine and Dine to life. Draping separated two spaces of the marquee before opening to reveal the bar and dance floor — Pinot’s Bar, named after our Labrador. The stationery by Tamborine Press was a true work of art thoughtfully designed to capture and tie together every special detail. And well the Tiramisu cake was the wedding cake of our dreams made by a local southwest patisserie - Maison Lassialle.
Any tips for couples getting married?
The day goes so fast, so take some time to be present and soak it all in with all your favourite people in one room.
When you trust your vendors, you can let go, relax and enjoy the day. This is truly something that kept my mind at ease being a bit of a control freak.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
All of our vendors were amazing and worked so well together, and we could not have asked for a more seamless day. I travelled for work a lot in the months leading up to our wedding, so knowing we had such a reliable vendors gave us complete peace of mind. Everything came together beautifully, and we were able to be present and enjoy every moment. A few special mentions below, however would recommend every single vendor we had!
Pop Up Planning Co (Planner & Stylist)– There truly are no words to describe the day Laura helped us create. With very little context or brief, she understood my vision from the very beginning and brought it to life more than I could have imagined. She was incredible not only on the wedding weekend itself, but throughout the entire planning process. I like to think I was a relatively relaxed bride—and that was entirely because of Laura and the team at Pop-Up Planning Co. Their calm, professionalism, and attention to detail made everything feel effortless.
Kath Young Photography – From our initial conversation, Kath intuitively understood the vision we had for our wedding photography. Her candid style captured the day so naturally, and it was especially meaningful during the more emotional and fast-paced moments. Since neither Hayden nor I are big photo people, her calm, steady presence made us and the guests feel completely at ease.
Details by Meg (Content Creator) – Meg stepped in 3 months before our wedding, and we could not be more thankful for her. She was so easy and kind to work with and captured all the raw, candid, in-between moments. We are obsessed with all the edits she created. I love watching them back and reliving the day.
Tamborine Press (Stationery) – Sarah’s work is phenomenal and her talent exceeded all our expectations. I would recommend her to anyone looking for bespoke detailed stationary for their special day. Her pieces brought the bistro/wine bar styling to life and are some of our absolute favourite keepsakes from the wedding.
