Tell us a little about yourselves!
Scott and I have been together for 8 years, introduced through my sisters. Since day one, we have been so comfortable and at ease with one another. Family is such an important part of our lives. Scott works in Property and I am a Cosmetic Registered Nurse.
At the moment we are loving spending time at home in Perth, catching up with friends for coffee dates and dinner dates in our recently purchased first house. We are loving the process and slowly making it feel like a home.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We always loved the idea of an intimate wedding, and Wildflower Restaurant was such a beautiful space that ticked all of our boxes for a gorgeous view, good food and wine and excellent service. We wanted to be able to sit back on our wedding day, feeling confident that the team at Wildflower (and Como, the Treasury) had everything taken care of, so that we could enjoy good conversation with loved ones and just feel at ease.
How many guests did you have?
17. Immediate family and partners.
What was your budget?Â
Safe to say, the budget certainly increased as we were planning the wedding, but we always agreed that if we were doing this, we had to do it well. If that meant going for a small guest list, then so be it.
Our budget came to approximately $60,000.
Tell us about your outfits.
The big, extravagant wedding dress was never something that sparked my interest. I always knew I’d go for something a lot more understated but beautiful. This is when I fell in love with Danielle Frankel. Her designs are like pieces of art. I just loved the Rainey gown from the moment I saw it online. Unfortunately, there is only one stockist Australia wide - Bloom. So of course, Mum and I made a weekend girls trip out of it to go try on the dress.
I knew instantly it was the one. Regarding accessories, I kept things simple with my custom made tennis bracelet, a simple pearl stud earring and lace  Neous heels for an added layer of texture.
Scott, like most men, left things to the last minute haha so it was a mad rush a few weeks prior to rush a tailor made suit from Oscar Hunt, paired with new shiny shoes, a new bow-tie, rose gold cufflinks to match his watch. And that was that.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
The biggest thing for us was that our guests had a great time. We didn’t want guests to worry about a thing; from transport to parking fees, through to having a favourite drink of theirs on the menu, this was really important to us. From a planning perspective this is where we organised valet parking, accommodation for the parents, kept the wedding at the same venue for ease and designed our own drinks list to ensure everyone had something on there that we knew they loved.
Being predominantly family, who have done so much for us over our lives, we wanted this one night to be a little getaway for them, to just be present and enjoy good wine, food and conversation.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Not really, having our family there was the most important thing to us. With their company, there wasn’t much else that we were fussed about having.
The only other thing was that Scott and I have always loved a good wine. We often collect special wines we’ve shared with loved ones over the years and cellar them. The Wildflower team were incredible in sourcing some of these wines for us, which really made the day feel even more special.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Do as much planning as you can during that newly engaged stage, when the excitement and motivation juices are flowing! It saved us!
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Hands down, our beautiful photographer Kath Young. I can’t begin to put into words just how incredible she was. From day one through to the end of the wedding, Kath went above and beyond. Her presence is so warm, gentle and calming and kind. Which is very much appreciated in those stressful moments of the wedding morning and during the day. She is someone whom I will endeavour to keep in touch with for a long long time.
Secondly, my wonderful sister-in-law Sophie Waddell Studio who designed my stationery and made my visions come to life.Â
Thirdly, my wonderful florist Rebecca (Natural Art Flowers). We’d catch up for meetings to discuss my vision and from day one we were on the same page. She understood the brief perfectly and not to mention the divine silverware she sourced herself and styled down the dinner table for us. It was definitely a highlight of my day, seeing how beautiful the table setting was.
