Tell us a little about yourselves! Â
Chris is a Londoner who lives in Mallorca. Isabel is a Mallorquina who lived in London for years but who had recently moved back home.Â
Â
We met during COVID times through a dating app. We clicked instantly and after a few days of endless FaceTimes we made a plan to sneak out illegally to see each other in person and we never looked back. Â
Chris was due to leave Mallorca with work two months after we met and we didn’t know how the time apart would affect our new relationship, but it made us grow closer and five years later, here we are!
Why did you decide to get married where you did? Â
Isabel is a wedding planner and after doing weddings all over the beautiful island of Mallorca (in fincas, castles, and rural settings) she knew that she wanted a city wedding for our own. Â
Palma is where she grew up in, where we both live in right now, and it’s the place that saw us fall in love so we wanted to show our guests what we love about it.
How many guests did you have? Â
We had 100 guests which was the perfect amount to be able to enjoy and spend a bit of time with everyone. Â
 Â
Isabel is a local, so most of her guests were from the island. Chris´ family and friends mostly live in London so we had half of the party travelling to join us. We were surprised how many people could make it, taking into account we planned the wedding in just 5 months!
What was your budget? Â
Our budget was limited and we wanted to include a pre wedding, the wedding day and a post wedding event in our family home. Luckily, we managed to get great deals from most of the suppliers as Isabel has a lot of good friends in the industry.
Tell us about your outfits. Â
Chris wanted something very relaxed but smart. He was looking everywhere for a linen suit that would keep him cool in the heat, but that wasn´t beige. We found a great suit in Moss while on a trip to London. His shoes were leather suede loafers from a local shop in Palma. Â
Isabel’s dress is from the Spanish brand Sophie et Voila. I wanted something city-like, structured and with no train, very comfortable, so I got this idea of a short dress with a long skirt that I could remove for the party. I went to see Mercé at The White Showroom who sells the brand and she helped me put the outfit together. Â
I knew the Jimmy Choo’s I needed for my wedding outfit (mesh kitten heels) before I knew what dress I was going to wear.Â
I wore some earrings from the Spanish brand PdPaola in the shape of a knot to symbolise our union and some personal jewellery items from both my grandmas who are no longer with us but very present; an aquamarine ring and a gold bracelet.Â
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding? Â
As an event planner it was quite straightforward for me to plan the wedding. It was something out of the ordinary as not many wedding receptions happen in the centre of Palma, but having someone who you can bounce ideas off of and that knows what you are talking about helps massively. Â
And being able to pass on all the planning to the coordination team a few days before the wedding so I could concentrate on being the bride was amazing. Â
On the other hand I was massively happy with the choice of suppliers as I knew that all of them would perform incredibly well. So choosing good suppliers is always a must!Â
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
A few things:Â Â
Spending time with our guests was very important to us. We wanted to see everyone the day before and the day after the wedding so we would have more time with everyone. Since a lot of our guests were travelling we wanted to make it worth their while. Â
Getting married in the city center and being able to walk from the Town Hall to the venue was also something that we envisioned. We absolutely loved that part of the day. It was a 15 minute stroll and felt like one of the best walks we ever had in Palma because we had the company of everyone we loved.Â
Â
We knew we wanted to walk down the aisle together, but also wanted to have our parents there so they walked down the aisle before us to symbolise both their relationships as our guide. We also had our godson and niece carry the rings and it was the sweetest touch. Â
Having art on our table, we chose Malen, a previous bride of mine and an amazing local artist to design our menus and place cards and it was the cherry on top of the decoration. Â
Curating a good playlist throughout the day that made sense in each moment with songs that were part of our relationship & having a good DJ that would cater for both our taste and groups of friends, we had an amazing party, DJ Nano was perfect!Â
