Tell us a little about yourselves!

We are Harriet and Chloe, Harriet is a photographer, Chloe is a dancer and we have been together for almost 8 years, after meeting at a friends wedding! We live together in London with our 2 cats Oshi and Bandit.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We have been coming to northern Italy for years and think the Piedmont is underrated in the UK. It is such a beautiful part of the country, rich in food and wine and a perfect climate for a summer wedding. We found Villa Corinna by chance just by zooming in on Google maps, we flew out the same weekend to view it and immediately loved it. Maria Cristina, the owner of the house has had the home in her family for generations and she is so proud of  the incredible garden that surrounds it.T he first thing that struck us was the  birdsong and how peaceful it was there. It is ironically called an ‘English Garden’ because it was originally planted in this style so felt the perfect  balance of home and away.

How many guests did you have?

We had a nice round 100! We felt so honoured that so many friends and family made the trip to celebrate with us.

Tell us about your outfits.

Harriet – I found the brand on Instagram and bought it without trying it (!) as it was based in San Francisco. However, having tried on a few dresses that didn’t feel quite right ,I thought it was worth the gamble! I wore their ‘Isabella’ Tunic and Skirt.

Chloe – I have always loved sewing and designing so it only felt right to design my dress. I was influenced by the romantic era tutu’s and designers Danielle Frankel and Cinq. Malgosia is a friends mum and she was such a dream to have make the dress.

Veils – Chloe made the veils from fabric found on Goldhawk Road, London. It felt really special to sit and sew them, somehow ceremonial.

Evening outfits:

Harriet – I wanted something to change into in the evening that was a little  freer to dance in – I tried lots of options with my skirt but in the end it was a  £5 top from Vinted that made the cut!

Chloe – I made the outfit using a vintage pattern and some fabric I had  bought from Goldhawk Road. Like Harriet I wanted something a little more ‘moveable’ for the evening but still wanted it to feel special.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning  your wedding?

We wanted sun, good food and a full dance floor! Our guests were really the centre of all our  decisions, we wanted it to feel like we had invited 100 people over for lunch, to feel relaxed but also  special. Obviously making something feel relaxed takes a lot of work but you hope that you’ve hired people you can trust to deliver on the day (which they did).

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

A lot of our friends are now parents and we wanted to make sure both parents and children would have a good time. Maria Cristina helped us find three local girls to help look after the children and  they were really amazing.

The feeling of family is so important to us and we wanted to somehow bring that into the lunch. When we have friends around to eat at home we always do it ‘family style’ so wanted to mirror this at the wedding – we (mostly Chloe’s mum!) collected over 50 vintage platters to serve the food on, Chloe and her mum also made the tablecloths and the white top tablecloths were old family cloths from Maria Cristina.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Try not to get caught up in what you ‘should’ do and just think about what you want, we just wanted it to feel like ‘us’ and so put our time and modest  budget into things that were the most important to us.

Our priority was having our full guest list which meant not sweating the small stuff and just trying to make the best out of what we could afford/make! Do a speech together – people want to hear what you’ve got to say and  there will probably never be another moment in your life when every person  there is rooting for you!

Don’t have preconceptions of photos in your head– if you’ve got the right photographer (we had the best in Zara Staples) they find the beauty in you having the best  time. Just enjoy your day and the pictures will reflect that.

Bury a sausage – trust us! (Burying a sausage is a tradition originating from the UK, believed to bring sunny weather on the wedding day!)

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Bar Versini- these guys were an absolute dream. We were absolutely blown away by our first tasting with them and it was smooth sailing from there. We struggled to find a caterer who understood the style of meal we wanted to  serve. Italians serve ‘family style’ in restaurants and at home all the time but when it comes to weddings we found that they traditionally go for something  a lot grander. Bar Versini got it immediately and just took the lead on everything food related and helped liaise with suppliers. Again, we found them on Instagram and asked them if they would be up for it as they hadn’t done a wedding before. Suffice to say, they absolutely smashed it, the food and service was incredible and we’re so grateful to them.
