Tell us a little about yourselves!

Cathy and Christian’s story began in New York City, where a chance meeting on the L train sparked what would become a decade-long partnership defined by shared experiences, global travel, and a deep sense of home in one another. Their wedding celebrations—spanning from an intimate theatre ceremony to a cinematic destination weekend—reflect both the scale and soul of their relationship.

How many guests did you have?

60 total. Love Bears captured our day.

What was your budget?

100k.

Tell us about your outfits.

Cathy worked directly with designer Brittany of Bretagne Studio to become the first bride to wear the now-viral Bretagne gown. She styled it with Maison Margiela Tabi shoes, Khaite earrings, and a Paula Nadal choker for an editorial edge.

Christian designed his own suit, creating a two-jacket look in cream and black that evolved throughout the evening. Inspired by Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, the custom design balanced traditional tailoring with a more conceptual, fashion-driven approach, paired with a self-designed wedding ring stack via Bad With Reason.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The most important aspects were to make sure guests didn’t feel like they were at a typical wedding. We really wanted them to step into our world through cinema and culture. Keeping our guest list at 60 created the loving and intimate vibe we were going for.

Guests were welcomed through immersive, narrative-driven design, including a custom marquee installation, a full-scale NYC subway station build-out, and personalized movie poster escort cards. We even had the subway train where Christian and I first met recreated.

The reception carried the cinematic theme with a custom cake inspired by The Grand Budapest Hotel, blending playful detail with a striking, set-like design.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Cinema! Everything from the seating charts to the music revolved around movies — that’s one of the main things Christian and I bonded over. The fact that our wedding fell on Oscar’s weekend (we had a watch party the day after!) was the perfect touch.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Think about what is important, non-negotiable for you and stay true to that!
