Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met five years ago while both working in the financial sector in Luxembourg and have been inseparable ever since. I grew up in Luxembourg, while Robin moved to Europe from Hong Kong more than 15 years ago. Despite our very different cultural backgrounds and upbringings, we quickly discovered that we share the same values and a love for many of the same things — especially traveling, exploring new places or learning new skills, as well as our love for dogs!

We’re both partners and best friends, so getting married felt like the most natural step.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

I always joked that I didn’t want a “fairytale castle wedding,” but the moment we saw Château de Mirwart, we were instantly captivated. The drive through the Ardenne forests sets such a serene and calming tone — exactly the atmosphere we envisioned for our wedding day. And when we stepped inside, the castle’s modern interior sealed the decision for us. It felt like such a natural reflection of our style: elegant, contemporary, and beautiful in its simplicity, without needing much additional styling.

We also loved how secluded and surrounded by nature it is — almost like a hidden retreat just for our family and friends. Given that many people travelled from far, having everyone stay on-site was especially meaningful, transforming the celebration into a full weekend together. From the relaxed dinner at the restaurant the night before, to brunch the morning after, it all felt intimate, personal, and exactly how we hoped it would be.

How many guests did you have?

We celebrated with around 70 guests — just immediate family and close friends. Keeping it small meant we could really connect with everyone and create meaningful memories together.

What was your budget?

We focused our budget on the aspects that mattered most to us, such as the location, catering and photography and consciously chose to limit or skip on some other items like live entertainment or stationery. In that way we could make sure to have the wedding we wanted while not unnecessarily overspending.

Tell us about your outfits.

I had always imagined myself in a modern ivory silk dress — something simple yet timeless. When I tried on my Alexandra Grecco gown, it instantly felt very true to my style. The delicate details stood out — the elegant cowl neck, the open back that showed just the right amount of skin, and the dreamy fabric. I styled it with a simple veil, a sleek up do and soft makeup, as well as a comfortable low-heeled slingback shoe. My accessories carried a lot of sentimental value: vintage Chanel clip-on earrings from my mum (first worn at my communion), a tennis bracelet gifted by my in-laws, and our velvet blue ring box as my “something blue.”

During dinner, I carried a sleek ivory clutch and added a blazer from one of my favorite brands, Rohe — in fact, it was the very first piece I bought before even finding my dress. Later in the evening, I changed into a shoulder-baring mini dress.

For me, it was important that each piece felt true to my personal style — elegant, wearable, and something I could cherish beyond the wedding day.

Robin wore a classic, custom-made tuxedo from Les Hommes d’Amsterdam — understated, timeless, and absolutely perfect.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted the wedding to feel like a genuine reflection of us — our style, our story, and our connection to our guests. For us that meant avoiding anything overly traditional, trendy or generic and instead creating something timeless, elegant, and intimate. Above all, we wanted our guests to feel included and comfortable throughout our special day.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted the day to carry subtle touches of Robin’s Chinese heritage, so we chose our wedding date using the Feng Shui calendar and incorporated the Chinese double happiness symbol into our stationery suite.

Family was also central to our celebration. One of my cousins officiated the ceremony, which made it incredibly personal, and their children played special roles as flower girls, ring bearer, and even musicians.

Dogs are also a big part of both our families, so having them with us was non-negotiable! We even slipped away during dinner to take a few photos with them.

And from the very beginning, we knew we wanted a matcha wedding cake — thankfully, we found a caterer who absolutely nailed it.

Any tips for couples getting married?

  1. Hire a planner or coordinator. It makes the process so much more enjoyable, and on the day itself, you’ll be able to fully relax.

  2. Don’t stress too much about the weather. Instead choose a venue that looks beautiful both indoors and outdoors, so you’ll feel happy either way.

  3. Learn something new together. We’re both notoriously clumsy dancers so the first dance is probably the part we were most nervous about. But taking lessons for our first dance gave us the confidence boost needed and was such a fun bonding experience — the photos prove it was worth it!

  4. Choose quality vendors you truly connect with. Take time in finding the right people, then let go and trust them — they’ll deliver.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our planner, Lynn, was truly incredible — a calming yet fun presence who guided us through the entire process. It felt more like having a friend by our side than a vendor. She completely understood our vision and somehow brought it to life even better than we could have imagined.

Our photographer, Salien from Studio Salien, was one of the very first vendors we booked, and for good reason. She captured the emotions of the day so beautifully — not just the big moments, but also the little in-between ones that mean the most. Her aesthetic is timeless and genuine, and looking back at her photos instantly brings us back to those moments.
