Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met at university and have been together for 12 years. Cajame grew up in the wilds of Cornwall while Marek grew up in London, where they live together now. Cajame is working in the art world and Marek in the city – often colliding in their passion for food, art and outdoors.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Chelsea Town Hall was the perfect place for the civil ceremony as Marek grew up around there and afterwards our close family and a few friends celebrated with lunch at Ognisko, an incredible Polish club on Exhibition road.  It was essential to pay homage to the pierogi!

We decided to hold the wedding in Cornwall in honour of all the special times we spent there in the early formative years of our relationship. Touring the coastline and swimming in the Cornish sea is a crucial part of our story. We really see it as a place to ground and regenerate ourselves. Also for the food – it has the most amazing local produce.

We gambled on the weather allowing us to enjoy a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere in the Flora Restaurant’s cobbled courtyard. Trelowarren’s ancient granite buildings and lawns sweeping away to woods and pasture provided the perfect balance of timeless elegance and dreamy informality.

How many guests did you have?

110 – the perfect number to be able to spend time with everyone but still have a party.

What was your budget?

We didn’t want too much fuss or extravagance in any sense but aimed to focus on some important elements such as the food, drinks and flowers – along with some little moments such as the drapes in the disco room and the cakes table.

Tell us about your outfits.

Marek wore an ecru linen suit from Drake’s on Saville Row with a pale blue crisp shirt from Emma Willis in London. He rarely wears suits these days so he was excited to pick a special outfit for our Wedding. His choice was definitely a gamble that paid off in the 30C plus Cornish summer heat!

Cajame wore a classic column dress in an ivory silk fabric from Own Studio for the wedding day, with a Cathedral length veil with appliqued taffeta flowers from Eden B Studio. She also added some sentimental touches, such as her mother’s Cornish gold earrings that she wore on her wedding day along with a diamond tennis necklace borrowed from her dear friend Cece at Cece Jewellry, who also made our rings. Last but not least, her feet felt classically elegant in her friend’s mother’s ice blue Manolos, that she wore at her wedding and have since been worn by another friend too! In the evening, she changed into the perfect dress for a party by Susan Fang.

For the civil ceremony Cajame had lots of fun with a Simone Rocha dress, Rejina Pyo heels and bag, flowers from her parents’ Cornish garden – picked and brought up on the train that morning and big bow earrings.

To mark the occasion they exchanged a beautiful ring for Cajame from her Mum’s treasure chest (she used to be a jewellery dealer) and a ring by Epoch-A for Marek (Cajame’s brother and his partner’s beguiling jewellery brand)

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Everyone having the best time! We were bringing everyone to the far end of the isle so wanted them to have the best experience at the wedding and in Cornwall. It was important for us to tie in some Polish traditions as a nod to Marek’s heritage.

Ceremony – The ceremony being modern and meaningful was a big focus for us. Trelowarren has a spectacular Strawberry Hill inspired chapel – where Jen, our florist, Twigs And Greens, lined the windows with coloured vases (thrifted by my mother from auctions and charity shops) filled with surrealist arrangements of exotic blooms and summer meadow flowers.

Cajame’s brother lead the ceremony and our vows very much represented the future promises of support and adventure we wanted to commit to each other. Our friend Emma also provided a reading from Daphne Du Maurier’s Frenchman’s Creek, written at Trelowarren and based on the area – to give a taste of dramatic romantic piracy.

Food – as mentioned previously, this will forever be a place for us enjoy fresh amazing produce – Flora Restaurant is so incredibly creative and the desserts were a spectacular display – The table swathed in flowing white linen held espresso martinis and delicate little desserts, towered over by a huge wild berry pavlova (family tradition dictates that the cake or pavlova must topple to make the marriage lasting). Later on, when darkness fell, wood fired pizza ovens  drew us back to the courtyard to replenish and relax.

Dancing – We made a fun bar and dance floor post dinner with some of our friends DJing – we had clouds of white muslin and disco balls lining the ceilings to bring the night in after the sun scorched day.

Also lastly – the day needed to be full of love – friends, family, loved ones all being in one space.  It was daunting to achieve but so eternally special to have created those meaningful but fun memories with our dearest people.

Any tips for couples getting married?

For the wedding, we would definitely recommend keeping it authentic – there is an overwhelming array of trends to get wrapped up in and it can distract you from your core ideas that represent you and why you’re celebrating – definitely stay true to what’s important for you as a couple and your loved ones!

Spend time together not thinking of the wedding too and feeling special in each others company and your partnership.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Shout out to our amazing photographer Sundari, who really lived the wedding with us – she captured the moments so iconically.

Flora created our menu and drinks so perfectly – from canapes and cocktails, through to pavlova and pizzas, their attention to every last detail was astonishing.

They use mouth wateringly good local produce and conjure it into extraordinary delights.

Jen from Twigs & Greens, for the flowers, she created the magic in each moment from the chapel windowsills with light reflecting through the colourful bouquets to the chandelier green arrangements in the disco room – all of it captured Surrealist Cornish meadow.

Lastly, Freya from Desiderata who orchestrated the day so seamlessly, turning the courtyard with Flora into a Mediterranean oasis for our outdoor seated summer feast (which seemed impossible at points) Her calm precision allowed us to totally relax and be present in every moment of our wonderful day.
