Tell us a little about yourselves!
Rafael and I have never dreamt of a big celebration with lots of guests and a big party, so having a civil wedding for two, during a pandemic wasn’t a setback for us.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We both love Portugal’s old world charm and its breathtaking architecture, so nothing could be more perfect than a XVIII century palace Palácio de Queluz in Sintra to tie the knot.
How many guests did you have?
Just the two of us at the ceremony.
Tell us about your outfits.
I’m passionate about vintage design so when we decided to get married it was clear I wasn’t wearing a typical wedding dress. I wore a stylish mini dress by Giambattista Valli, paired up with Tory Burch pearl earrings and Rafael looked elegant in a black and elegant tuxedo from Mister Man.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
We wanted a relaxed, simple wedding without the planning overshadowing the whole event. Also, even though we decided to have a civil ceremony, we didn’t wanted to exchange vows in a cramped, soulless room. Location was a major deal for us and our wedding planner The Wedding Wonderland helped us to pick the most amazing venue with plenty of rooms full of character, history and equally stunning outdoors.This intimate and whimsical setting allowed us to create a thoughtful and curated day with plenty of romance, like any other wedding.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Flowers! I love flowers and it was important to have a bouquet, which I had from Decoflorália. We also wanted cinematographic, arty photos that captured Portugal’s old world charm. Our photographer Couplet Photography captured every moment exactly how we wanted to remember our day!
Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during Covid?
Stay true to yourselves and even if you are eloping, hire a wedding planner!
