Real Wedding | Shelby + Aaron

Tell us a little about yourselves!

My husband and I live in Vancouver and work in the film industry. We love to travel, have an amazing Pomeranian Sable that we love so much and got engaged in Italy, where we ultimately decided to get married.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We decided to get married in Italy because it’s a place we love so much. You can't go wrong with wine, food and so much culture and history. We have a small family so we also wanted to give them an excuse to travel.

How many guests did you have?

25 and our photographer Michelle Pullman from St Chelle captured our day.

Tell us about your outfits.

We wanted something elegant, romantic and timeless. Aaron chose a black on black suit and I went for a simple A-line dress. I ended up getting custom sleeves that made the dress more romantic.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted to have our family there. We made sure every single person was okay with a destination wedding or we would have chosen a venue closer to home. Thankfully everyone was thrilled about going to Italy. We also didn’t want an over-the-top wedding, we wanted the location and venue (La Torre di Pila) to speak for itself.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Our dog Sable! She was the ring bearer and did such a good job. The wedding wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Be aware of random expenses you didn’t think of and budget for it! And for the ladies have a backup after party dress! After hours of wearing the dress and being stuffed with food and drinks, mine started to rub under my shoulders. I didn’t have anything else to change into, so I wish I would have brought a looser, cute evening dress.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Galateo was the best catering we could have hoped for! They were amazing and the food was delicious. We got the traditional Italian wedding cake and they prepared it in front of us and we got to help make it and put icing sugar on it!. Everyone says skip the wedding cake because no one will eat it - but every person loved the cake and went back for seconds. 10/10!
