Tell us a little about yourselves!
Heath is a plasterer, Sarah is a naturopath. We have a golden retriever named Charlie. We have been together for 6 years and got engaged last September. We are currently renovating our house – Heaths second home renovation project and my first!
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We married in our garden at home and it was exactly a year since we moved into the house. Heath also proposed during lockdown in our garden with a champagne picnic. We thought it would be the perfect setting!
How many guests did you have?
We had 120 guests.
Tell us about your outfits.
Heath wore a beige summer style suit from SABA, a crisp white shirt and botanical tie in a different shade of beige. I wore a dress by Reev Bridal, added custom removable sleeves and a veil to match. I wanted myself, Heath and our wedding parties (who wore Shona Joy and Politix Menswear) to look classic and elegant however, also summery and on theme with the garden aesthetic.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
I think figuring out what time of the year we would have the wedding was important. Knowing we would be outdoors and in our garden was important to us. We opted for the end of summer so that the trees would still be green and the weather warm. My colour palette kind of fell into place from there – with olives and sage green, white, cream and beige. I’m a very visual person so I think that’s why this was important to me. Once I had my colours organised, I could plan away everything else with ease and make sure it all worked together nicely.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
A fun element we included was custom stamped pizza boxes! Everything else I tried to keep very classic and elegant. I think we achieved that overall.
Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during the pandemic?
What worked well for us was setting our date and just getting organised as soon as we could! I managed to plan the wedding in under four months and everything worked out well. I would say if you’re planning on getting a lot of vendors like catering, a venue, celebrant, photography etc – book them in as soon as you can, as they all book out quickly! We also did a lot of things ourselves. The bridesmaids and I all did hair and makeup, we made our own bouquets with a mix of dried florals as well as some fresh additions we purchased the night before.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We love our photographer Shardey from Na Lia Weddings! She’s not only an incredible photographer but was also so helpful in the lead up to the wedding, sharing her favourite vendors with us. She also helped on the day itself and made sure everything ran smoothly. We received over 1500 images in our wedding album as well! We also really liked our furniture and glassware from The Table Station, that made everything looking classic elegant and a little bit vintage!
