Real Wedding | Lauren + Leroy

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Lauren was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, while Leroy was born in Wellington, New Zealand. Together we've built a strong connection, sharing a love for early morning sunrises, beach days, travel, gym sessions and supporting each other to become the best version of ourselves. We met and currently live in Sydney, Australia.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Before departing on our travels, we had planned the elopement, knowing we wanted to get married while exploring new places. Initially considering Santorini, we ultimately chose Mallorca. Its palm trees, Spanish architecture, sangria, stunning coastline, secluded coves and breathtaking cliff tops perfectly matched our vision.

How many guests did you have?

We were legally married at the registry in Australia before departing for our European adventures to avoid any legal complexities overseas. We didn't have any guests in Mallorca. It was just the two of us. Our ceremony was a private moment where we exchanged vows. Upon our return to Sydney, we celebrated with an intimate dinner with our closest family and friends, which was really special.

What was your budget?

We didn't have a specific budget for the elopement itself, but rather an overall budget for our European getaway. Initially nervous about finances, we manifested the funds needed to support our trip, and surprisingly, everything fell into place perfectly.

Tell us about your outfits.

I found my dress online from Milla a couple of months before the elopement. I was expecting to need alterations, but it fit perfectly right out of the box. It had everything I envisioned - a high neck, an open back and a leg split. Leroy's suit was custom-made by his friend at The Bespoke Corner Tailors. Knowing he had a clear vision for an olive-tone suit made the process seamless and we loved the final product.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Embracing exactly what we wanted – an untraditional approach and doing things on our terms.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Remembering our why – connection over everything. Your wedding day is truly special, a celebration of the love shared between two people. So, that was exactly what we focused on. It was a day spent doing what we love – enjoying a smoothie bowl breakfast, a cheeky morning tanning session by the pool, getting ready while facetiming my Mum and best friend and exploring Mallorca Island (even though it turned out to be quite an adventure in the scorching 43-degree heat, poor Leroy!).

The day wrapped up with an intimate sunset dinner where we rocked up to our reservation in our wedding attire (the restaurant staff were so amazing, ensuring the best seat in the house) and ended the evening with delicious food, a cheeky cocktail (or two) and dessert (of course).

Any tips for couples getting married?

For couples getting married, our advice is simple: Do you! Remember your why and though easier said than done, think about what truly makes you happy and try to encapsulate this into your special day. Also, remember the importance of building a strong foundation – the wedding day is special but committing to the ongoing journey of having each other's back, through the good times and the bad, is the ultimate flex.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Big shoutout to our photographer, Meggy Mac Photography! When we decided to elope, we had very little idea about what we were doing or planning. Megan went above and beyond her role as our photographer. She became our guide and support throughout the journey, offering accommodation and vendor recommendations, even driving us around on the day! She joined us in exploring the island on our special day and her relaxed energy made everything so easy – just what we envisioned.
