Real Wedding | Harriet + Scott

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We went for lunch at Hubert Estate after it was renovated and really fell in love with the space, the food and the people. We just had a good feeling, so we locked it in the next day.

How many guests did you have?

100 of our friends and family.

Tell us about your outfits.

We had a lot of fun putting together what we wore on the day. I was out shopping with a friend (and not in the wedding dress headspace at the time) when I came across my Rachel Gilbert dress hanging at the back of the store. I instantly had a big smile and had to try it on! I had that ‘this is the one’ feeling and bought it. I loved the idea of being able to dance and run around on the day with our son, so flat shoes were always going to be the best option for me. Pairing Essen ballet flats with my wedding dress was a dream come true. My accessories all came together in the last week or so. My earrings were borrowed from my Grandmother and both my veil and bag were found at a garage sale.

Scott wanted something more than a black suit. We had the best experience at P. Johnson in Melbourne, piecing together ivory pants and a black jacket. He wanted both items to be something he could wear separately and often. His shoes were also always going to be something he could get a lot of wear in, so he decided on some handcrafted lace up Conflict For Interest boots.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We love food! This was something we loved about Hubert Estate: no one was going to dance hungry.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Our son Ruben was a big part in our planning process. We wanted him to have the best day with us. All of our vendors made such a lovely effort to include and celebrate him. He had his own bouquet of flowers from Salt Flower, was spoken of beautifully by our celebrant Sophie Cleary and well fed by Hubert Estate.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Remember to eat!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

We were so fortunate that all of the vendors we worked with were so wonderful in the lead up and on the day. We would like to thank our photographer Lei Lei Clavey and all our vendors and couldn’t recommend them all highly enough!
