Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Our original plan was to get married in Italy with our immediate families, but the seemingly never-ending pandemic put a stop to that. We sometimes say if you stand on the balcony at Siglo and squint you could almost be in Europe, so we decided it was close enough!
How many guests did you have?
55.
Tell us about your outfits.
My very good school friend Georgie and the co-founder of her brand, Erika from ErikaGeorg, created my three-piece suit which I love and have been able to wear elements of again already – ever practical! The Oroton dress as my ‘2nd outfit’ was a last-minute decision after I saw it on eBay 3 weeks prior to the wedding.
There is a special family connection to my engagement ring from Peter Bird, as his father designed my grandmother’s engagement ring and he also designed my mum’s engagement ring. I also incorporated a diamond from my grandma’s engagement ring – that she left me when she died – into my engagement ring.
I also wore my great, great grandmother’s coin necklace that my mum wears daily was my “something old” and “something borrowed” and my grandmother’s sapphire ring was my “something blue."
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
For Felicity it was flowers, food and drinks and Henry's focus was music, friends and a casual atmosphere.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Not really. We didn’t want anything too traditional. Our mentality was less ‘wedding’ and more ‘celebratory dinner’.
Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during the pandemic?
If you’re sticking to a budget, decide what is most important to you and where you’re happy to spend versus those elements that perhaps aren’t as important where you can save. For us that meant staying at home the night before and the night of and catching Ubers each way!
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
My beautiful friend Lei Lei Clavey who was both a guest and our photographer. We’re not big on photos at the best of times and Lei was able to capture just what we wanted within about 15 minutes after the ceremony, meaning we could get straight back to celebrating with our guests. We also adored our flowers and loved that Bronte Gale came and wrapped them up to give away to our guests at the end of the evening.
