Real Wedding | Cass + Tyler

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met at a dive bar and bonded over a love of books.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We wanted something simple and inviting. Something that didn’t feel wedding-ish. We guess it was symbolic, too, because Tyler proposed in Cass' parents’ driveway.

How many guests did you have?

40 at the wedding ceremony and 70 at the reception. Alix Gould captured our day.

Tell us about your outfits.

I purchased my wedding dress second-hand from a website called Stillwhite.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Well, to be honest, we really didn’t want to plan a wedding! That said, we realized the day was very important to our friends and family, so we hopped on the bandwagon a bit. I think the most important thing to us throughout the entire wedding process was that it wasn’t stressful for anyone. We wanted everyone to have a good time - before, after, and every step in between.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Tyler wanted time for guests to give speeches. I wanted pumpkin pie for dessert and was adamant about not making any sort of formal entrance. We wanted the whole day to feel like a big party, not so much like a wedding. We didn’t want the focus to be on us; it was a day for everyone in attendance to enjoy - especially Cass' mother, grandmother, and bridal party!

Any tips for couples getting married?

Make the day your own. But lean on those who care about weddings and have the bridal gene. We were really fortunate to have a bunch of people who wanted to orchestrate the day. We let them take the reins (and reeled them in if they strayed too far from our comfort zone). They made the day perfect.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Cass' mother and grandmother of the bride had their hair done at Livingstone & Co. before the wedding!
