Tell us a little about yourselves!
We met in 2011 at Hartwick College (in the dining hall!) in Upstate New York. Rio is from New Zealand and I (Caroline) am from New York. It is crazy to say but from the first time we laid eyes on each other it was clear there was a special connection. It wasn’t until years later (Rio had moved to London for work), when he was in NYC for a work trip that we rekindled this connection - and from a first real ‘date’ in the west village, there was no looking back...
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We love the history and style of Old Marylebone Town Hall
How many guests did you have?
We had five guests and our photographer Maja Tsolo present.
Tell us about your outfits.
Rio’s Gieves and Hawkes suit was fitted for him in Mayfair, I loved seeing him feel so good in what he was wearing. The most important aspect though, was his fresh haircut by our friend minutes before heading to the venue to exchange vows. I found my Vanessa Cicchiaro dress online and knew I wanted something super simple and timeless - I really loved both of our looks for the day.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
More than anything, we wanted the day to be relaxed and romantic.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Yes! We had a Zoom session set up for our families to call in. We’re spread all over the world right now and traveling wasn’t an option - but we still wanted everyone to see and be a part of this very special moment - even if it was only through Zoom!
Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during Covid?
At the end of the day your wedding is about you and your partner - do your best to stay present and remember why you are getting married in the first place!
