Real Wedding | Brittanie + Austin

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

France was always a special place to us. We lived in New York for a long period of time while we were dating, and we frequently hopped over to visit Paris. Austin speaks fluent French as for a period of Austin’s childhood, he grew up in Annecy, France. Austin proposed to Brittanie in Annecy in 2022 and then we married one year later.

How many guests did you have?

55. Corinna Keiser captured our day.

Tell us about your outfits.

Austin and Brittanie wanted to look modern yet classic. Brittanie found her Prea James Bridal dress at Loho Bride in LA and accessorized with her mother’s vintage veil from her wedding, Austin’s grandma’s vintage gloves, and a bouquet that Austin’s mom made herself. She wore a Stone Cold Fox  after party mini!

Austin wore a Ralph Lauren purple label suit, and Gucci loafers.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

DIY-ing our wedding to make it feel personal and it saved us a lot of money.

We also left a polaroid camera out with a photo album, double sided tape, and a sharpie so our guests could scrapbook our guest book.

Spending time with all of our guests. Brittanie and Austin had their bachelorette/bachelor parties in Paris the night before their rehearsal. Brittanie went to Crazy Horse burlesque and Austin went to a billard bar. The following night we had our rehearsal dinner on a sunset boat cruise on the Seine, followed by drinking wine on the dock after our time was up on the boat.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted to incorporate paper crane origami name card holders, as an homage to Brittanie’s Japanese grandmother, who could not make the trip over to Paris. We also had vintage accessories from Brittanie's iconic female family members.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Less is more. Find a venue, like Hôtel Particulier, that needs no dressing up. We practically had no decorations which meant less money spent on our wedding and less to coordinate.
