Real Wedding | Alice + Arthur

Tell us about yourselves!

We met at university and have been together ever since. We've been living in Paris for a few years now. Arthur works as a strategy consultant and I work in marketing for a luxury company. We both share an interest in fashion, design, travel and good food.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Arthur has family roots on the Côte d'Azur and introduced me to the region, which I instantly fell in love with.

Since then, it's been a haven of happiness that we return to whenever we get the chance. The sun, the sea, the countryside... everything appeals to us. So it was an ideal place to hold our wedding. We were looking for an authentic location that could host a small, intimate and joyful wedding. We were charmed by the Le Manoir de l’Etang, with its Provençal farmhouse architecture, typically Mediterranean gardens and outdoor spaces ideal for a reception. And it is located just a few minutes from the village of Mougins, one of the most picturesque village in the region. And we could already picture ourselves dining out by the pool under the stars!

The place also has the advantage of providing accommodation for a large number of guests for 3 days. This was a real plus for us, creating a bond between guests and a cosy atmosphere to ensure that our wedding was a long and happy celebration. In addition, the dedicated and caring staff allowed us to really enjoy our wedding day.

And finally, the cuisine at Le Manoir de l’Etang is delicious, well prepared and inspired by local Mediterranean ingredients and recipes. We both love gastronomy and we wanted to bring this to our wedding table.

How many guests did you have?

75. We wanted a small wedding so we could spend quality time with everyone!

What was your budget?

Approximately €50,000.

Tell us about your outfits!

For the ceremony, I wore a very structured sleeveless top with a bow in the back, and a long skirt with a fitted back and a flowing front. To complete the outfit, I added a splash of pink with Balenciaga pumps and earrings from a brand I love, Completed Works, which I liked for their delicate yet dressy feel. And the outfit was evolving! For the cocktail party, the long skirt gave way to a short one with a train that followed the line of the bow. For the evening, the top was replaced by a structured, bar-waist top and I wore earrings in the shape of engagement rings, from my brother and brother-in-law’s brand, Untiltled 19 .

The family business doesn't stop there! I'm lucky enough to have a sister who's a make-up artist and she gave me a made-to-measure make-up look. A light, luminous complexion, a touch of shimmer on the mouth and fairly strong silver liner on the eyes. To complete the look, I held a few callas in my hands. I love the purity and luminosity of them.

Arthur: Personally, I knew nothing about Alice's outfit, except that it would be spectacular and extremely elegant! So I had to be at my best: not to be invisible next to the bride, but without forgetting that she was the queen of the day!

In the end, I opted for a navy dinner jacket by Dior, with a modernised double-breasted fastening and slightly wide-legged trousers. A white shirt, with a handwritten Dior signature on the collar, which I wore at our civil wedding, as a kind of throwback. To highlight it, I didn't wear a bow tie or a cravat. The whole look gave me a 70s silhouette that was both original and formal. But to be honest, I did have a little extra help - Alice's siblings, who knew her outfit better than anyone, helped me with my choices and at the fittings.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted a wedding that was just like us! Above all, colourful, happy and personal. Colour was everywhere, in the bouquets of flowers, the tableware, the decorations and especially the guests' dresses! Everything had to inspire joy. We wanted everyone to meet up, laugh and have a good time together. For example, we opted for banqueting tables instead of round ones, so that our guests could mix as much as possible!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

A jazz band! We both love listening to jazz and the atmosphere it creates.

Any tips for couples getting married?

It's your special day, make your dreams come true! Do as you wish and don't get tied down by wedding customs. For example, we chose not to open the party with a "first dance" because it just didn't feel like ourselves.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Firstly, Maélys Izzo, our super photographer, who offered to contribute to this article with you. She has a gift for fitting in with a group and this is reflected in her photos: everything is natural and spontaneous, and all the emotions shine through. She has paid attention to each guest, so that everyone has something to keep in their memories. And of course, she's a very talented photographer, who was able to capture the magnificent light of the Côte d'Azur, the happy colours of the wedding and all the most charming details of the venue or the guests' outfits.

We were very lucky to have her by our side. We hired her very early on because we had fallen in love with her universe. The photos were one of the most important things for us. After all, that's what's left, and we knew that with Maelys we'd have some fabulous memories! Tons of photos! We ended up with a rich gallery that really captures what we dreamed of for our wedding. And as a bonus, some lovely couple photos, as we usually find it so hard to take them ourselves, because we're not at all comfortable in front of the camera.

Secondly, Floriane Fleuriste Mougins was our partner for all the wedding flowers: the ceremony decorations, the dinner tables and, of course, the bride's bouquet. We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted. Colourful and dazzling flowers with volume. Floriane was able to fulfil this wish and create a unique atmosphere, which we complemented with fruits here and there.

Finally, Camilla and the whole team at Le Manoir de l’Etang. They are great professionals, who helped us to organise our event without a flaw, taking great care to bring our wishes to life. And we had a lot of wishes! we knew what we wanted, it has its advantages but also its disadvantages, and Camilla understood and realised what we were hoping for at every aspect of the wedding.
