Italian documentary wedding photographers We.Wedding Photography are fascinated by human connection and love to capture moments and feelings that words can’t express. Having worked all over Italy as well as Spain, Greece, and Switzerland, the photography duo particularly love to capture destination weddings throughout Europe.
Tell us about your business!
We. Wedding Photography is a project born in 2015 by chance we might say. We both studied photography in Milan at that time, and a friend asked us to photograph his wedding. The images that came out of it were not bad at all and we had enjoyed it so much that we decided to invest in this project and grow it to this day.
Alongside wedding photography, we also work in other areas such as commercial, architectural, interior photography and events. This helps us to keep a fresh outlook and try to bring our skills into the wedding field as well.
What would you like couples to know about you?
We try to put the same care and attention into this work that we put in our life as a couple. Having two photographers on your wedding day who fully understand each other's thoughts is something we would want too, if we were you.
Where are you based?
Novara, a small and quiet city out of the metropolitan area of Milan in Italy.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes! Mostly around the beautiful Italy but we had the opportunity to work also in Spain, Greece, and Switzerland. It would be a dream to shoot more destination weddings.
How would you describe your style?
Documentary, aimed at reporting moments as they happen without too much forcing. Recently, we have introduced analog photography in both small and large formats. This forces us to think more before shooting and has also influenced our digital work . We are fortunate to have photography-loving family members who have a loads of great cameras and analog equipment.
What is your most memorable career moment?
Our first wedding outside Italy was in 2016. It took place in the middle of the Spanish countryside and we are still in touch with that couple - so much so that last April we photographed the bride's sister's wedding in Marbella.
This is one of our goals, to leave a good memory of us and maintain ties over years to come.
What inspires you?
We get to develop our style and approach thanks to the excellent studies that we then reflect in wedding photography. Many artists of the past, whose styles remain authentic even today, have influenced us. From American street photographers, like Robert Frank or Joel Meyerowits to conceptual artists like Stephen Shore.
Among the Italian artists, Luigi Ghirri is a sources of great inspiration for us with his iconic landscapes that express a sense of suspension of time. There are also many contemporary emergent photographers with great talent in the use of color and composition that we admire.
What motivates you to do what you do?
Gratitude for doing something we always dreamed about. After years we still get emotional during weddings. We never take this job for granted.
How would you describe your working style?
We try our best to be a good presence during the whole day. We are the first ones to not be very comfortable in from of a camera, so we perfectly understand couples who feel a little shy being photographed. Our goal is to become invisible or like a quiet guest. Also before the wedding, we set a good connection with the couple being flexible, comunicative and open to their requests or needs but always making sure we are on the same page regarding our photographic style.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
Both digitally and film.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
We have two basics packs and different packs for multi-day weddings. Of course we are flexible in order to meet our couple's different needs. The final quote is customized for the couple.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
We work with a fantastic fine art printing laboratory that follows our work step by step and produces high-level albums and prints.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
It would be a dream for us to go out of Europe and discover new places and cultures, like the ones that most of our couples come from.
Who is your dream client?
The couple who trusts us. Every wedding photographer’s dream client, we guess!
What is your advice to couples getting married?
It’s difficult to give advice on such personal and special moment like a wedding day. Maybe the best things a couple could do is to enjoy every moment - from the organization to the wedding day. Make choices and decisions that really represent you and not because of trends or old 'rules'.
