Tell us about your business!

Hi, I am Laura. xoMe Studio is the creative home for my photography.

xoMe is an ode to a sign off of a love letter.  While falling in love with my partner, I left poems around the house, all signed with “xo _____” related to whatever the poem was about. Over the months it shifted to “xoLaura” then simply “xoMe”. 

I loved that xoMe looks like home, a favorite word. As a romantic in every way, xoMe felt like the perfect name to house my passion and business.

What would you like couples to know about you?

Formerly an icu nurse, that warmth for humanity and attention carries into my photography.

Where are you based?

Door County, Wisconsin. A home to rolling hills and lakeside magic.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes.

How would you describe your style?

Story-telling, shadow-seeking, in the moment and intimate.

What is your most memorable career moment?

A bride reached out shortly after her wedding requesting photos of the groom’s grandmother who had just passed away. The photos from their wedding day were the last pictures captured of her. I found such special portraits of grandma watching the ceremony, throwing her hands in the air after family photos, and smiling at her grandson.  The honor of the work really struck me in that moment.

What inspires you?

Uniqueness in personal style, the energy of beautiful spaces, dinner tables full of chatter, honesty, romance, the quirkiness of a moment.

How would you describe your working style?

Like a swimming duck (true to my last name, Quackenboss). Calm on the surface, swimming legs observing and excited to try and capture it all. 

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

Both! I shoot digital and film (35mm & 120mm).

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes, customized on your photo wishes and flow of the day.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

Anything that includes film. Film adds a grit and romance to your gallery. It allows us to see the beauty of the unknown and  perfect imperfections.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

A dim NYC restaurant, an English cottage, an intimate Italian villa wedding weekend.

Who is your dream client?

Kind, creative, open, authentic, playful. Those who appreciate the experience of the moment and connection.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

Trust your gut and sidestep trends.
