Tell us about Doxa Photography!

I'm an analogue photographer, specializing in honest wedding storytelling. With film's timeless allure, I capture authentic, poetic moments. Unobtrusive and candid, my images reflect the true essence of love, preserving memories in a way digital can't.

Where are you based?

I reside in the sweet and soft, Canadian prairies with my love Kyle and our two wild, barefoot in the garden children - Honey and River.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes, I do. I am drawn to stories, wherever they may take me.

How would you describe your style?

Romantic, honest, emotion-centric and timeless analog imagery, that tells a story and makes you feel something.

What inspires you?

A few things! I am a gardener, so I am very inspired by the life cycle of plants, and learning about food and getting my hands dirty. I am also a ceramic artist and getting to explore creative mediums outside of photography is pivotal for my work and growth as an artist. Music impacts my work greatly and lastly friendship and connection. I love to host people, create space for connection, and hear stories. Magic happens when we share stories over a good meal!

What motivates you to do what you do?

My 'why' behind my work can mostly be boiled down to the immense value I find in human connection, documenting stories, and art for arts sake.

How would you describe your working style?

I ask for a seat at your table, both literally and figuratively. I work best in a space full of love and invitation where I am welcomed in as more than just a vendor, but as a friend. Your willingness to be vulnerable with your story and intimate moments allows me to see a glimpse of who you are and bring it into the photographs in an honest way.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

Both! I prefer the unbeatable way that film holds light and moments however, understand matching tones in digital to offer a range of options for people of differing budgets.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Absolutely.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

Film! Film! Film!

Where would you love to travel to for work?

I am not so much drawn to grandeur spaces, as I am to people and their unique stories. So I am wherever you are - if that is in a dingy church basement, count me in!

Who is your dream client?

Let me describe them for you! They are warm, artistically driven, family-centric, focused on love, intentional, lovers of design, feelers, in the moment and dreamers.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

There are two opposing truths in your wedding day - it matters so, so much and it does not matter at all. Hold these things in a careful dance understanding that you can enter in with care and intention, while also holding the truth that mostly everything at the end of the day, is out of our control. Set intentions for your day of joy, and presence, and connectedness- and allow what happens to happen!
