Based between Bremen and Munich, Anne Siemer embraces couples of all identities, cultures, and family structures. Collaboration is key to her approach, as she works closely with planners and, for larger or multi-day events, partners with a trusted photography and film team. Anne Siemer's work is international, with each project customised to the size, location, and visual style of the celebration, ensuring equal focus on both the experience and the final product.
Tell us about your business!
I’m Anne, an international wedding photographer and filmmaker working across digital, analogue film and Super 8.
My background in design shapes how I approach composition, movement and visual rhythm. I observe closely and offer precise direction when it adds something, while leaving enough space for moments to unfold naturally.
For photo and film and larger and multi-day celebrations, I collaborate with a trusted team and coordinate closely with planners. This allows us to capture photography and film from several perspectives without interrupting the flow of the celebration.
The work is considered, but never over-controlled.
What would you like couples to know about you?
I’m calm, warm and easy to be around. I care about creating an atmosphere in which people can relax, be themselves and forget about the camera for a while. There is always room for humour, emotion and everything that does not go exactly to plan.
At the same time, I take the responsibility of documenting a wedding very seriously. I prepare carefully, communicate clearly and remain attentive to both the larger picture and the people within it. Couples can rely on me to offer direction when it is helpful, stay composed when things shift and protect the natural rhythm of the day.
My practice is feminist, queer-inclusive and anti-racist. I never assume gender roles, traditions or family structures, and I want everyone in front of my camera to feel respected and welcome.
Where are you based?
I’m based between Bremen and Munich, Germany, and work throughout Europe.
Both locations make it straightforward to travel while keeping me closely connected to projects across the continent.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes. Having lived in Ireland and Switzerland and travelled extensively, working abroad feels natural to me.
I’m interested in how architecture, landscape, light and local rhythm influence a celebration, rather than treating a destination simply as a backdrop.
Careful preparation means that by the time I arrive, the logistics are clear and I can focus fully on the people, the place and the pace of the wedding.
How would you describe your style?
My work sits between documentary observation and editorial composition.
My design background—and particularly my interest in Bauhaus—informs my sense of structure, proportion and rhythm. I’m equally inspired by artists, designers and people who question established ideas and create their own visual language.
I pay attention to gesture, architecture, fashion and the way the atmosphere of a room changes throughout a celebration. Some images are quietly directed; others depend entirely on timing.
The result is visually coherent, while still carrying the unpredictability, movement and energy of the day.
What is your most memorable career moment?
I don’t think there is one single moment. After more than ten years, what stays with me is the trust behind the work: being welcomed into very personal spaces, returning to photograph people at different points in their lives, and hearing years later that an image has become part of their shared history.
That still feels significant to me. Photographs often gain meaning over time, which is why I remain attentive not only to the defining moments, but also to the gestures, relationships and details that might otherwise be overlooked.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
I work across digital, analogue film and Super 8.
Digital offers speed, flexibility and precision. Film changes the pace and introduces texture, depth and subtle unpredictability. Super 8 records movement in a more immediate and tactile way.
Used together, the different formats create variation without feeling fragmented. The choice is intentional rather than decorative and always serves the wider visual story.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
Yes. Each proposal is tailored to the scale, location and rhythm of the celebration—from focused wedding-day coverage to a multi-day programme combining photography, analogue film, Super 8 and a highlight film.
For more complex commissions, I build the right team around the brief and coordinate closely with the planner. The aim is not to add coverage for its own sake, but to create enough time, perspective and continuity for the final body of work to feel complete.
Who is your dream client?
The people I work best with are design-aware, emotionally grounded and confident in making their own decisions.
They care about architecture, fashion, music and hospitality, but also about how their guests feel. Their choices may be bold, yet never performative. They value personality over convention and want the celebration to reflect who they are rather than follow a predetermined idea of what a wedding should look like.
They see photography and film as part of the overall creative language, trust the professionals they commission and value a celebration with a clear point of view.
The scale can vary; the intention does not.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
Choose your creative team for both their point of view and the way they collaborate.
A strong planner is invaluable: they protect the concept, hold the logistics and create the conditions for every discipline to do its best work. Experienced professionals do more than deliver a service—they bring clarity, perspective and calm when plans evolve.
Once the right people are in place, trust them. The most compelling celebrations are not necessarily built by adding more, but by making a few clear decisions and leaving enough space for the day to be lived.
