Tell us a little about yourselves!

We touched toes at pilates and the rest is history. Just joking—that would be a little weird—we are a Hinge success story. Allie roasted Alex to oblivion on their first date, and he knew they would get married immediately.

Allie is a California girl and recent law school graduate, and Alex is a Jersey boy who is a copywriter in advertising. They do vastly different things. They also love each other to an absurd degree. It’s a perfect match.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We knew we wanted to get married in the city, and we knew we wanted a place that felt like it is a part of the city we love. Casino oozes character. Maybe that’s because it used to be the Chinatown staple, Mission Chinese—the red and white color scheme screams 1980’s NYC to this couple who were born in the 90’s—or maybe it’s because the layout and design are impeccable. Maybe it’s all of the above. We don’t have a definitive answer, but if you’re looking for something unique in New York, we highly recommend getting dinner here and seeing what makes it special for yourself.

How many guests did you have?

120 friends and family, but mostly friends. We’re having a more intimate Jewish ceremony next year, which will be more family-focused, so this was our opportunity to celebrate with our friends here in the city we love most.

What was your budget?

50k.

Tell us about your outfits.

Alex wore a Paul Smith suit, he saw a video of The Dare and said, “I want that.”

Allie wore a Nili Lotan sweater set and a Dior skirt (her mom picked it out) for the ceremony, with Roger Vivier mules. She did a dramatic costume change into a black and white Rodarte dress for the rest of the party, which she paired with Gucci slingbacks.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Find a planner who gets you. Layne, Carly, and everyone at PennyLayne are absolutely incredible. We told them an overview of what we wanted and put our trust in them to really take our notes away and deliver a creative output that matched. They went above and beyond our expectations.

We were honestly pretty hands-off on the creative direction of how things came to life and we are thrilled about that decision. They took what we asked for, made it better, and built on our vision to surprise us in ways that made the night spectacular. 10/10. No notes.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted it to feel like a vintage NYC night out. A bit of class, a slice or two of pizza, tons of martinis, you know the vibe. Casino lends itself perfectly to what we wanted and Layne made sure every other aspect was brought in. Kindred captured it all in the purest form.

Any tips for couples getting married?

There are going to be things you can’t control—be okay with that. What you can control is pizza, definitely have that at your wedding. Carbs are your friend on wedding night.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Oh, Solid Wiggles is so awesome. These jello shots might’ve been the hit of the night, to be honest. Picture this – your favorite drink distilled into jello form, made to look like a piece of modern art, tastes better than the real thing, and is the first thing your guests see when they walk in. People knew right away what was up. And what was up was an incredible night.
