Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met about 7 years ago in New York City and have been attached at the hip ever since! We now have 2 cats and 2 dogs. We have talked about getting married for a while but Jonas officially proposed last August and we got married shortly after in September!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We always knew we wanted a small wedding with just our closest family and friends. New York City has played such a crucial role in our relationship, the Manhattan Courthouse which happens to be not too far from the bar we met at on the Lower East Side.

How many guests did you have?

We had about 12 guests at our courthouse ceremony followed by an intimate dinner at Keen’s Steakhouse. We then had about 35 guests for a reception party in our backyard the following day.

What was your budget?

We didn’t really have a set budget, since we knew our wedding would be small and intimate.

Tell us about your outfits.

I tried on so many dresses until I landed on the Doen one. I thought it gave the perfect vintage flair I was looking for. Jonas stumbled upon his suit in a vintage store in Asheville, NC. It was his exact size and in perfect condition, deadstock from the 60s.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning  your wedding?

We wanted something low stress and that felt like us. I have family from all over and Jonas is from Germany. Having all of our favorite people in one room is very rare, so we wanted to be able to soak up every minute rather than stressing about details.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted to incorporate the bar we met at, Clockwork, so took some photos there that ended up being our favorite photos from the whole weekend.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Sarah: Don’t feel pressure to make your wedding how other people think it should be.

Jonas: Be in the moment! No matter how you choose to celebrate, soak up every little moment.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our photographer, Emma Melin Studios, could not have been a more perfect fit for us. She captured the exact vibe we were hoping for and was even able to wrangle our dysfunctional families for family photos in the process! We had never had formal photos taken and she made us feel so comfortable. We get so many compliments on our photos and every time we look back at them we smile.
